It looks like Coutinho is going to happen.

Really? How much and where does he fit?

Word is we bid 8mn euros and got turned down. Inter are holding out for 15. We are bidding again. The Echo (usually a good source) reports that Liverpool have definitely bid for him and are quite confident the clubs will find a middle ground.
I dunno what to make of the deal though. A couple of years back I would've been thrilled. But since moving to Inter Coutino has kinda fallen off the radar. He is capable of greatness though. Great vision, very technical. Played well in Spain when he was loaned out last season, but hasn't done anything at Inter. Also according to the Twittersphere if he comes in, most likely, Suso goes out on a loan. Apparently Rodolfo Borell is already looking for a club that play good football where he can get first team football day in day out.

Wasn't chrisrx convinced pool would be in a season long relegation battle?
hey now…. i've already come here and said i was dead wrong, and that i like my crow with tabasco… one of the guys had it as his sig quote for a while, may still even have it…
this squad has far, FAR surpassed what i thought they were capable of… i'll just say that i'm VERY glad to have Rodgers instead of Dalglish managing this club….

I like him a lot... he's fast, very technical and has a good eye for goal... has the typical Brazilian flair, too... He's a little light weight and like most young guys, his decision making isn't always the best (from what I've read).
I think he'd prob start out on the wing, put his natural position is CAM...
He scored 5 goals in his 16 appearances at Espanyol last season and Inter won every game of the 5 he has appeared in this season...

Coutinho is going to be a top performer. Skilfull, can produce magic in a square metre. He's quick but needs to grow as a team player.
Gabriele Marcotti ?@Marcotti
@GuillemBalague he also needs to stay healthy. And find his best position
Guillem Balague ?@GuillemBalague
@Marcotti left of the three in 433? Espanyol found a raw talent and body. But he listens
Guillem Balague ?@GuillemBalague
Liverpool and Coutinho are hopeful it will happen. The player is very excited about move! Fee close to be agreed but not yet. Hope it happens
Guillem Balague ?@GuillemBalague
Coutinho great talent, certainly worth £10m. And he is quick, special. Will take time to adapt but will offer magic straight away if he comes

Like I said. I would be happy too. But two years ago I would've been elated. It will still be good business.
I think we put in a loan request for him in the summer and are following up on our interest. I also think the scouting network might finally be coming together.
It seems BR wants to go for players that have a point to prove. Maybe he hopes it will give them an impetus to perform on a higher level.

It made its way around the LFC forums a couple days ago. I've only seen him play maybe 5 times (LFC senior appearances and a few U19 German matches). I wouldn't say he has struggled to fit into the LFC youth team, but there was certainly an apparent learning curve for him. I remember Pep saying LFC's academy (this was like 18 months ago I believe) had the most talent of any other in the world right now.
He's a very exciting player. Hopefully it will be fun to watch him in the Prem in a handful of years.

I really hope we can bring all of that talent through. Almost Barca-esque or should I say "Classic Liverpool of the 70s/80s-esque". You cannot substitute the chemistry of a group of players, who have been playing as a team through out all age groups, with anything. It's like family, they are your best buddies, people you spent almost all your life with. A game becomes more than just a game. It's us versus the rest. I think if we can keep that it will do us a world of good.
/philosophical rant over/
Also Guilleme Balague now reporting on his twitter that LFC and Coutinho are positive about a deal.

I agree. The price seems a little more than I'd like for us to pay, but no denying the kid has potential and is versatile.

from my point of view, with the squad we had at the time i made the statement i did, it did look rather bleak…. but we made some moves, guys stepped the frick up, and now have a legit shot at top 5…. top 4 will be tough to get to, but realistically, if we beat the Gunners on the 30th, we are in really good shape….
looks like i won't be around to enjoy it with ya'll, but just know that in my heart, just like ya'll i'll always be a Red… a critical Red, but a Red nonetheless….

I could care less whether he stays or not. We made the bet at the beginning of the season when he was absolutely insufferable.
