Hah! I'm a big fan of Camus. I actually don't care much for the character Meursault. I'm more of a Dr. Bernard Rieux kind of guy.

That's cool? Diouf was actually part of the reason I became a Liverpool fan. Although I don't like to dwell much on that.

Is that who you're named after or is there another Meursault?

Not really. I saw him in an airport in South Africa. He's a shite footballer.

Raheemo is also in the works as per the internet. I am hoping we get that Redmond and Butland in a double deal from Brummies and a proper finisher in January and we are almost sorted.

Redmond is almost a carbon copy of Raheem... they would cause terror on both flanks...

Are you wanting Butland as Pepe's #2 and eventual replacement or do you think it's time to sell Pepe?

I definitely chose the screen name after the literary Meursault.

I know he has been very consistent for a long time but its starting to look like maybe Pepe needs to move on. Not so sure Butland is ready for the #1 shirt, IIRC he doesn't even start for the blue noses.

If it was up to me, I'd go with the young german keeper, Marc Andre Ter Stegen... kid is exceptional and can play the sweeper role BR's system demands...

his stats were up there or better than Neuer's last year in Germany

He would be a great signing. Not so sure that M'Gladbach are ready to let him go yet though, and if they are, teams will be queing up for his signature.

This is the kind of heart we need from our young players. The greatest Liverpool generations put the club before themselves, and Suso seems ready to do that. Couldn't be happier.

This.

Also, fun side note, sold Pepe and signed Ter Stegen in FIFA 13 in the transfer window between season 1 and 2 for me. Won the EPL with 'Pool and currently lead it in year 3. It was a good decision for me, I think it'd work out nicely for BR as well (maybe not EPL champs nicely, but he'd be a good keeper).

This is my personal opinion but I think not having a set defensive line before him is affecting Pepe's performance. May have something to do with his positioning etc.
As far as buying a new keeper is concerned I want us to do exactly what Spurs are doing right now. Get a new you keeper in the next Summer and slowly blood him into the team.

Ter Stegen fits that mold imo, I mean he's only 20 years old.

Unfortunately real life doesn't work like FIFA. He's one of the most talented young keepers in the world.

1. Pool probablly can afford him
2. Bigger clubs will be in for him when he is available
3. He's German and there is always the chance that he'd prefer to stay in his home country.

He would be a similar signing to De Gea in many ways. A giant investment and a keeper who may not quite be physicalt or mentally mature enough to play in the EPL.

well yea, clearly... Just found it amusing that I made the same move that is now being discussed. I wish we can and will sign him, but I'm not saying it's going to happen

I'm of the opinion, that Pepe is going through a rough patch and will come good and give us many more years of service. I'd like to hold on to him, but I agree that none of our backups gives me a feel of confidence.

I would doubt Ter Stegen would move for anything less than first team football... Butland may be easier and we could always loan him out... anyway, January should be interesting..

No way should we give up on Reina. He has 5 years of football left.
