The NBA has always been that way though. It's historically been a dynasty driven league. But only at the very top. There's always plenty of parity amongst the rest of the league.

EPL is the only league with a semblance of parity

Series A has been fairly competitive historically with Juventus, Inter, AC Milan, Roma, Napoli, Fiorentina and Lazio all being solid.

I get your point though. The Scottish league is the WORST! frick hoops.

Even more so

Less than 15 years ago Arsenal went the season unbeaten and every year in the late 90s-early 00s it was United vs Arsenal for the league and everybody else

Fast forward to this year and they are likely finishing 5th and 6th

Italy used to be very competitive but it feels like since they got relegated it has been a one team show with them. The Milan teams are shadows of themselves, their main glory coming from social media worshipping Old AC teams. Christ Lazio and Parma used to be GOATly.

These things are cyclical though. Rotating between the big three leagues and I'm sure they will rise again

Honestly, the parity between Barca/Real/Atleti in La Liga is pretty close to the same parity with them and the rest of Europe right now. Juve is up there just because of how different they play.

There's always gonna be a Messi, or Lebron though, and those teams will be electric while they have those players.

It reminds me of a debate I had with my economics teacher, who called soccer a communist sport, not knowing that the player market is leaps and bounds closer to being free-market than any major US sport.

The English championship is the most entertaining league and has parity, but yes the top leagues are pretty boring. The relegation fight is more entertaining than the title one. That's why I'm not really a fan of a single team.

Italy used to be better. Juve has won six in a row, not long ago inter had 5 in a row. Still some decent teams, just no one really challenging Juve.

No one is going to challenge in Spain outside the three you mentioned, and it will be back to two if simeone leaves. Valencia has had some nice teams, but struggle financially or are struggling.

Germany has been Bayern and a few teams over the years, but mostly a one team league.

France for me hasn't really been a top league, at least not for very long. The ownership of psg just has a shite ton of cash, it used to be more competitive on the financial front.

Leicester won the epl last season, so there is that.

Recently, this has been more the problem. Real, Barca, Juve and Bayern have just been better than all the rest of Europe period. Much deeper rosters than the rest of their league foes and stronger starting elevens than the top English sides.

FFP, revenue sharing and a new era of global marketing seems to have made it possible for these clubs to stockpile talent down through their 2nd teams to a new level.

Still, I would add that in Serie A, for example, Roma lost 1-0 at Juve and won 3-1 at home. If Roma had simply won at Juve they would have won the league this season. Same for Napoli who lost 2-1 at Juve.

Looking to next year though, I do wonder if Inter and Milan both having so much money to spend this summer will mean that they improve by adding some players that may otherwise sign for Roma or Napoli. While making the fight for 2-5 more difficult, that could actually increase Juve's advantage.
