I am going to see my first pro soccer match this Saturday in Seattle vs. Tottenham. I worked with a buddy that lived/moved back to London after a short stint in Kansas and he is a big fan of the Spurs. We were looking for something fun to do before we board our cruise on Sunday. I've never been to watch soccer live/in-person outside of my son's team or our local indoor semi-pro team.
I'm not going to pretend to know a lot about it. I have always enjoyed watching the WC since 2006 but outside of cheering for the USMNT, I haven't really gotten into it. I am hoping that this sparks an interest for me that goes beyond the WC.
What can we do to make it the best experience possible? Anyone ever been to a match in Seattle? Who are the guys to watch for Tottenham? I know that Dempsey and Yedlin play for Seattle, so I am pretty excited to see them.
TIA

Just drink some beer and have fun. I went to my first match this year too and had a blast. The fans and environment is different, but in a good way

I would join the Sounders' march to the stadium.

I've been to one. There are others on here who have been to more, so I'll keep my advice short.
If you are staying downtown, it's walkable for you depending upon your tolerance for walking. There is a light-rail stop right by it if you would prefer that and your hotel is near the line. I'm sure that it gets really crowded on game-days, though. There are a couple of brewpubs around the stadium if you wanted to make your way up there earlier, and I seem to remember some food trucks outside the stadium. Stadium has a decent selection of beer. Pretty pleasant experience overall.

I went to the Panama game last summer in Seattle. The atmosphere was amazing. Public transit can get you there if you are too far to walk. I'm sure the sounders fans have some sort of organized tailgate at a bar close to the stadium. Might even have some ex-pat spurs fans that live in Seattle that have organized something to join in on. Do some research on some message boards for that. And if you can join in on the march to the stadium do so.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

We are renting a car while we are there. The march to the match seems like it would be a good time. Certainly seems like a different environment than anything that I have ever done before a sporting event. Thanks for the advice!

I don't like the Sounders but root for the Sounders

Filthy & jealous. Do you coach for the Oakland a's?
