You can check it out in this NYT article:

quote:

“I’m not afraid,” Klinsmann said. “What you need to do is stick to the facts. Soccer is emotional and a lot of people make conclusions without knowing anything about the inside of the team or the sport. I still believe we will get the points we need to qualify, and I am even confident we could win the group.”

He added: “The fact is, we lost two games. There is a lot of talk from people who don’t understand soccer or the team.”

ETA Here's what he had to say to Sunil to try and cover himself:

quote:

“I always made it clear to Sunil, if you really want to move up to the top 15 in the world, you need to have consistency in what you’re doing,” Klinsmann said. “If you react emotionally, you will become a roller coaster.”

Oh, and here's a recent Facebook Q&A where he says he designed the formation for the Mexico game around Pulisic.

quote:

"I read the papers and there's a lot of talk about our first 25 minutes against Mexico, where we chose the 3-4-1-2 formation," Klinsmann said in a Facebook Q&A, changing the way he previously referred to the formation, now calling it a 3-4-1-2. "Then we switched after 25 minutes to the 4-4-2 because it didn't work the way we wanted it. But there was a reason for going into that formation and that was simply Christian Pulisic."

The formation, which turned out to be a disaster in a 2-1 loss at home to Mexico, looked like a 3-5-2 formation in action, but Klinsmann corrected reporters after the match, telling them it was a 3-4-3. Now he is a calling it a 3-4-1-2, but whatever it is called, the Americans struggled with it as they looked unsure of their positioning. It left spaces for Mexico to exploit, which they did, scoring in just the 21st minute and forcing the U.S. onto their back foot.

In other words, Jurgen doesn't even seem to know what formation we were playing, but this is the real gem:

quote:

"With that formation, four midfielders spread out over the whole width of the field and then having Christian as the one behind Jozy Altidore and Bobby Wood, we hope that gives him so much freedom to roam and to hurt Mexico at specific times, similar to what he does at Borussia Dortmund," Klinsmann continued. "We trained that before and it went really well in training."

So Jurgen clearly doesn't watch Dortmund games. Pulisic played a lot of central attacking midfield during his development, but he's been almost exclusively a winger at Dortmund. Basically, Jurgen decided to base a formation for a WCQ against the USMNT's biggest rival around an 18-year-old he decided to play out of position, or at least a position the 18-year-old hasn't been playing much at all lately.

We are very dumb, though. His superior soccer knowledge is to be admired.

He must be referring to the people who still support him for some reason.

Just added a new article to the OP about a Q&A he just did, and it just gets worse. He literally has no idea what he's talking about.

It's like he's trolling us at this point.

I will be pissed if he's still our manager in January. Just let Bruce Arena take us to and through the World Cup, then go after someone big for the 2022 cycle. Giving JK a contract extension before the last WC was so incredibly stupid. We're seeing the fruits of that right now.

Let's just finish this year with more coaching cleansing. Miles is out. Time for Jurgen to go.

Jurgy is the ultimate confident dumb guy. He is a walking talking real life Will Ferrell impersonation character.

Even the US women are shite talking the USMNT (if you watched 60 minutes last night). Their equal pay battle has been going on for a while but they were pretty blunt last night to say the least.

Gotcha. Their attorney's main reasoning was US Soccer sells the tv rights as a package deal(mens and womens combined). So they think the women should be paid equally based on that. All that might accomplish is US Soccer will start selling the packages separately or will state a men vs women value in a single package I would think.

PS I'm not on the womens side of this, but I do find it interesting.
