I'm not disagreeing with that, but he said it was his problem with soccer not this tournament.

I don't recall 2011 or 2012 tournaments being this bad. 2015 has blown chunks.

Well it's clear England just didn't come on their girls enough. Lesson learned.

Since we're talking about actual soccer in this thread, I just want to point out that Feilhaber already has 2 assists tonight.

To tie this back to women's soccer, Leroux's husband has scored both goals.

The referees have been awful. Just bad. What pains me when I watch these games is all of these teams seem to have this mindset that after 4 passes someone needs to bomb it upfield blindly. I was getting very frustrated at the U.S. last night doing the same thing

Yeah I know the men play at at a higher level but even the best teams win what? 60% of their games?? I love the sport but There seems to be a lot of luck involved. Also: correct me if I'm wrong but the premier league doesn't have a playoff, right?
Why is that?

Because they have a system that is better.

Agreed. It's why I hate conference championship games in college football.

Think of it like college basketball:
Conferences = Countries (England)
Conf Regular Season = Domestic League (English Premier League)
Conf Tournament = Domestic Cups (FA Cup)
March Madness = Champions League

*The main difference is the cups are played across the whole season, not at the end.

Not really pulling for the Brits but now that the Japs are in the final.....can/will Fox do anything about the mikes adjacent to the Japanese bench ? The screeching, ka-kawing and high pitched noises are worse than ANY girls softball game !

True, it does make a lot of sense to think of Europe as one big country and all the countries as conferences. And like he said, the leagues kind of already do have playoffs, they just, like the conference tourneys, don't matter as much to the big guys, but the smaller conferences/countries since automatic bids to the BIG dance are at stake. The big leagues get a handful of berths anyways.

The announcer said Japan had a very intense workout the morning of the game. Hope they do that on Sunday as well. Don't understand why any team would do that.
