I still don't think he's a great manager but his players were cock holsters to him from the beginning.

There was a rumor going around that Moyes was using videos featuring Phil Jagielka for instruction. He wasn't winning anyone over with shite like that

But first there was some mundane video coaching for Moyes to attend to. Rio Ferdinand – for a period of his career the finest defender in the world, as well as one of the best in both his club and country's histories – needed some instruction. Moyes chose his former player Phil Jagielka as the blueprint, advising the Champions League winner to watch the ex-Sheffield United man closely; to study his moves. Ferdinand paused for a second, before responding: “And what the frick has he ever won?”

Quote is from Vice UK, so I will refrain from posting the link, but if you Google "Moyes Jagielka Ferdinand," you should be able to find some other references to the rumor.

as funny as it is because LOL Moyes, i don't particularly see anything stupid or wrong with showing a player, even a formerly great one, video of another, lesser player doing something the way Moyes wants it done.

That's not exactly what this sounds like. This sounds like, "hey, look at this guy. You should defend like him." Not, "this is how you will fit into my system."

Regardless, that's pretty dangerous territory with a declining player who appears to have a fairly large ego from my couch ~2000 miles away.

ETA: And, I agree that it was, and should be, fairly innocuous. However, if it happened, it seems that he's just a little naive and out of his depth

Showing veteran players video on how to be better just sounds too ridiculous to even be true.
