MLS-SPORTING KC!- Prob best young players in the mls imo. Players have lots of potential for usmnt and eventually european clubs hopefully.

International- Depends if you are a yankee fan( someone who knows there team is going to compete year after year), or more of a underdog person like say the royals or something(i prefer to pick an underdog to be a fan of). Me personally I usually pick one team from each league to root for based on the number of americans, or players i like. In the EPL I like AV because they usually have a couple of americans on their team and they're a smaller market than the big5. Also for some reason I've been attached to the nike brand the past few years and never pick an addidas team at all(can't wait till the mls/addidas contract runs out...)

Your best option is to watch soccer, and a lot of it. A team will kind of select you.

This is the best advice. The Premier League season starts up in about six weeks, so you can pick a random game to watch each Saturday and decide what team you like to watch. You can't go wrong with that unless you pick Man U.

I'm serious. This was in 08, when I was on senior trip, which would have been late May or maybe early June. One of you football dudes might remember this.

Although I'm pretty convinced this is a trolling thread I'll play along.

If you watched the Champions League Final and found it slow and boring soccer is probably not for you.

The most soccer I've watched since that one match is when they put it on the tv in front of me at the bar. It's really hard to pay attention while drunk though. Especially since I don't know anything going on.

Soccer football vs real football, which one has more strategy involved? Or is more complicated in the play I guess is what I'm asking. Not sure how to word this one.

This is a tough question because they are so different. Association Football (soccer) is the only sport that I can think of that is almost completely dictated by the players. In football, the coach calls in every play. Same thing in basketball and to a lesser extent, baseball. In soccer, the coach/manager will plan a general idea of how to attack and defend, and give a formation (4-4-2, etc.). Other than that, it's mostly up to the players to make things happen.

My buddies and I like to watch soccer matches and play drinking games. One sip every time a goal is scored. We save so much money on beer

Just read a little info like on boards like this and start watching.

If you like lots of scoring more than you enjoy strategy (for ex: the type person who complains about "boring" defensive battles in American football and pitcher's duels in baseball) then I'd say soccer is not for you, in the least. Arena football would be the way to go.

Some of the most riveting matches I've ever watched ended 0-0.

I had the feeling we were dealing with an Arena Football fan.

I heard they are going to start allowing goals in soccer? You mean every game isn't going to be 0-0 anymore?

I'm boycotting.

They should get rid of offsides and make the goals bigger.
