That's crazy. I got a name and number at the Fenerbahce stadium shop (like literally, inside the stadium, so it's probably pricier than most competitors) for 7 bucks.

I imagine a lot of that is carrying costs of having to have inventory of all letters and numbers, when they're primarily selling three or four players.

I'm guessing that's why they sold the Donovan jerseys cheap before the World Cup. They probably stocked up on Bradley, Dempsey, Donovan and Altidore and their corresponding numbers.

Of course it doesn't cost them that much, they have to turn a profit.

Probably come out cheaper buying a plain jersey and bringing it to a school uniform store or trophy show and have the name and number put on.

Its doesn't cost much. Batches of numbers are cheap cheap. Letters are cheap as well. It can be a little pricier if you are custom vinyl cutting each name(I.e. instead of pressing individual letters, pressing a vinyl en bloc cut out of a name). Also depends if they are using a standard athletic font or something or a custom made font.

I used to have a summer job at my familys sporting good store and do a lot of the pressing for local baseball teams, ordering, and such.

Well yea, but I doubt they would have the correct style letters and numbers. That would ruin the jersey in my eyes.

Yeah I would have to look at my jersey again to see what they used. But its probably something non standard. A print shop worth its weight should be able to custom cut the vinyl to match the font of the jersey. Little pricier (cheaper than $32), technically copyright issues, but I used to do it all the time.

What I mean is, NIKE, Adidas, etc, make their own numbers meant to go on particular jerseys. If you order from soccer.com or whatever, your jersey will have the appropriate letters and numbers. That's partially why it costs so much (but still overpriced), they're not just throwing any old letters and numbers on there.

I remember a couple of years ago on here there were people talking about one of the stores in Baton Rouge that would put out random soccer shirts including some pretty cool ones from time to time.

But I can't for the life of me remember what store. It was one you don't think of for soccer shirts. Target maybe? Anybody remember those threads?

Ross has jerseys sometimes. I've gotten a USMNT 2010 home, DC United home, Liverpool home. Seen a lot more that I didn't get. It's really hit or miss though. All around $20.

The price isn't that wild. I pay about 15-20 for a nameset from wherever it comes from - even if they aren't authentic. Add into that World Soccer Shop is taking liability for pressing properly, etc. It's not CRAZY out of line.

Adding the name and number is expensive because the player gets a cut. I'm not sure how much, but it's significant.

You are also paying for the patch on the jersey. You don't have to get them with some shops, but usually they come with the league patch on the sleeves.

Almost everywhere, patches are a separate charge.

And the OP is talking about a national team jersey.

Oh OK gotcha. There are a couple of sites though you can choose to go with no patch the bpl patch or the cl patch. I had found a good site that had player issue jerseys. Was thinking about getting yellow ozil with the respect and cl star on it. But couldn't justify the $100+ price tag with Arsenal changing to puma. And considering it was in Euros that prob puts them north of $130.

Do your jersey shopping in February, March, April.

Familiarize yourself with all the legit sites and team stores now, and set money aside to pull the trigger when the sales hit.

I bought a Tim Howard Everton GK jersey from their team store for $44 delivered to the US this spring.

Third Coast has number sets for $25 I think. Can't get my hands on an Ibra set, though.
