Has Klinsmann ruined Michael Bradley?

Two years ago, Bradley was one of the best DMs in Serie A. Third in pass percentage to Zanetti and Behrami, with more long balls, through balls, and chances created than both. Benefited by playing next to De Rossi in his prime and behind Totti, but was excellent as a shuttler.
Then he comes back to MLS. Mediocre World Cup. Bad Gold Cup. Playing as a 10.
So who is to blame? Bradley for coming back to MLS? Jurgen for playing him out of position. Both?
It's baffling. He is so willing to grind and work his arse off, but the technical ability isn't suited to a 10. And he no longer plays deep for club or country.

He's not a 10. You would think a guy who won a World Cup would be smart enough to realize that.

Our genius of a tactician will continue to fit a square peg in a round hole by playing our best player out of position.

Bradley is inconsistent, but outstanding when he's on. Go back and watch the Netherlands and Germany games.

This, too, seemed a fitting label for a young player with 79 international caps who cracked the Roma lineup by doing whatever was asked of him. A first-to-arrive-last-to-leave sort, Bradley. Molto disponibile. And molto "serious," molto "professional" and molto "tough, like a warrior," according to people with the team. "He sucks," joked Andreazzoli before adding "continuità e affidabilità" to the list of Bradley's attributes.

From a Deadpsin piece two years ago.

He had a better supporting cast and Roma and didn't have to force himself into a playmaking role (not that I watched a ton of his games there). Dempsey, Donovan, and Altidore have all suffered the same problem of inconsistency with the USMNT as have players like Messi, Ronaldo, and Ibrahimovic with their national teams.
I also dislike trying to describe a player with anecdotal terms - you can apply labels like that to any player and it's impossible to refute. Data like pass completion % and tackles won are much better indicators.
