Even a cap set at 25 million would make it comparable to Ligue 1, the Portuguese or any of the other "second-tier" leagues that recruit most of their talents from developing countries.

Just having the Brazilians who normally go to Shakhtar, Porto or Sporting Lisbon as a leaping pad to Europe, instead opt to play in MLS would dramatically improve the league.

Outside of the super clubs in England, a cap of 50m would exceed most European clubs. That will change with respect to England, as the new TV deal looks to make English PL clubs the richest in the world, but an imaginary cap of 50m is extremely competitive.

LINK

thats from 2010/2011

outside of blackpool and B'ham the lowest was 37 million pounds. Thats more than 50 million dollars. So barley lower end EPL if that.

I thought we were talking about Championship level clubs? No one in the Championship has a wage bill of 50m, save one or two teams.

Like I said, England has way more money than everyone right now, and for the foreseeable future. But to say that a wage cap of 50m wouldn't be competitive across Europe is untrue.

but 50 mil is half the NFL.

1. the NFL is the absolute top football league

2. soccer plays about half the players as an NFL team
