Well I started a Career as Manager for Carlisle United FC out of League Two. Thus far, I have won all of my matches in the pre-season tournament and hope to play the Championship Match tonight. I'm still trying to find my way, as this is the first time I have ever played FIFA, but I can already tell that this game is addicting! The transfer system is taking some getting used to, and I have really enjoyed reading this thread!

Lost my next game and dropped behind Leyton Orient by 1.....then we took over and won the league by 9 points. I also took the FA Cup with a 4-2 win over WBA in the semis and then a 3-1 over City after falling behind 1-0 on a shitty PK call.

Congrats!

I've lost in the finals of the FA Cup 3 times, so I've never gotten to win the thing. This means you'll also be in Europa Group Stage. If you qualify, it's another 1.8m to your budget.

Best of luck with your offense improvement. What formation are you running?

Best of luck! I would keep playing on the default difficulty and gradually increase it as you improve at the game. I moved to World Class during my 2nd season.

If you want other resources to search players, I suggest using sofifa and futhead. I didn't realize all of the career mode numbers were there until I was far into my CM.

Sitting in 6th right now in the Prem.

Once I got promoted I was given 15 million to play with. Spent only about 6 of it. Put another 2 in youth academy scouts.

I started a career with Plymouth Argyle. Won the league and the FA Cup in year one while selling my best striker in January. Currently about 8 league games into season 2. Bought a new #1 striker, #1 CAM, a center mid, a GK prospect, and Gboly Ariyibi. Sold all my outside backs and took a defensive mid and CB on loan. Also have some academy players that are getting a lot of minutes (a CB, CDM, LM, and ST). There's a ton of games on my schedule. Europa league, FA Cup, League Cup, Johnstone Paint Trophy, and 46 League 1 games.

Running a 3-5-2.

Running a 4-2-3-1 but with an offensive mindset. No CDMs above the defense. They're more box-to-box CMs with a CAM and then a striker. The flanking midfielders get heavily involved in the offense. I grabbed an Italian LM in the winter window and he's been a big improvement to that side of the offense. I'm going to run through the first half of the season in League 1 and see how the difficulty is there. I may have to bump it up a notch.

What do yall use for the transfer budget:wage ratio?

I tend to have a smaller team so I try not to buy too many people, but have most of them be quality players which carry a higher wage. That way, when my 66 rated academy grad doesn't feel like he can keep playing for $500/week, I can afford the raise.

I'd recommend the 2. Bundesliga for anyone looking for a different kind of team to build up instead of the normal League One and League Two route.

The presentation for the Bundesliga in this year's game is really, really slick. Looks a lot better than most leagues.

And from the matches I've played so far, there seems to be more variety in tactics and playing style from the opposition than what you see in the lower English leagues. That might be because I'm playing on Legendary, but you'll see Route One teams, sit back and quick counter teams, and some who play the short possession game.

ETA: The budgets are also comparable to the ones you see in the lower English leagues, too. I started with only $3 million or something like that at FCK.

Currently top 4 at the start of February. I only purchased one player during the window, but signed 6 players to free transfers. My team is going to be so incredibly stacked next year.

I have a good bit of cash left over for wage increases and another scout.

I see. My 4-3-3 has two CDMs behind the CAM, but I play one of them deeper, so it doesn't turn out to have 6 people back.

Ariyibi served me so well in Year 1-3. Brought him mostly off the bench in the Championship, but his pace was deadly on a tired defence.

Good luck with all those events. I usually dropped Capitol One cup early because it really doesn't matter and you don't get any money out of it.

I start out VERY frugal in my first year. Then I made the decision to sell off a couple of my best players in the winter window for a nice profit and used that to add a few more players that could start immediately but also had potential for improvement. I filled some of the gaps with loans. I made sure to keep some money available after the winter window for the inevitable requests for increased wages which are pretty much non-negotiable. I've never had a player accept less than they were asking. I also signed a few future contracts in the winter window to bring some guys in to replace loans for the following season.

I tinker with the ratio and adjust it based on whether I need more purchasing power or a greater ability to negotiate wages. I probably should start an academy now.

Why the hate? The black and red kits are the best in the game, imo.

That's always one of the first things I do. If you start in league 1 or 2, they can usually compete quickly. If you are in the Premier League, you can loan them out.

They're pretty sweet. Kaiserslautern's aren't too shabby, either, especially with the checkerboard stripe on the socks.

I've noticed that a lot of my players that are younger don't get loaned out near as often as they were in past games.

I still really haven't been using my academy outside of bench players. I had one of them break into the first team, and I sold him to Manchester City in the following window for $17m.

All the talk of Bundesliga made me want to do a Club & Country CM. So I started one with 1860 Munchen.

Never done something like this before, so it'll be interesting. Can only use German players for the team.

Does FIFA change the color of Allianz when you play with 1860 there?

Haven't played a home yet so I can't say.

Will make sure to look for it when I do later today.
