I abuse through balls as much as anyone on 14's Career Mode. (Just finished an unbeaten season in the Championship with Wigan, what up)

I like how the thread is about strategies, tactics, etc. and all we've done is complain so far 
As for formation, 4-2-3-1 is pretty solid depending on your CDMs
4-4-2 is ok and 4-1-2-1-2 is good

they just address the issues in stupid ways
FIFA has had a long history of major flaws in gameplay due to ridiculously accurate long balls (both passes and in the air). also, FIFA has historically had problems with speed (esp when players are on the ball)
they doubled down on the problem of distance passing, which is illogical. they tried to fix it by destroying first touch, to where even ronaldo and messi fumble through balls
then, to combat speed issues, they make any dribbler of the ball slow as frick in speed situations and have allowed defenders to have superhuman "catch up" speed
they should address this by making it hard to dribble at high pace unless you're an elite dribbler...but that makes too much sense
13 had flaws with the first touch, but it was immensely more playable online than 14

What level do you play on, I'm about 2/3 the way through my first season and I blow. My guys have no first touch, can't dribble, can make long passes but dick up the short easy ones, can't defend etc.... It's infuriating.

Legendary, with some sliders to make things a bit tougher than the stock difficulty.
But I've been playing FIFA every year since, like, 2002. I've spent more time with that series than any other hobby in my life.
It's pretty easy against average second-tier teams. EPL play, on the other hand, is gonna be tough.

You seriously underestimate EA's ability to push out a game once a year while simultaneously not giving a shite about glaring errors and defaults in gameplay, especially.

This is fricking infuriating.
In other annoyances, I got Eibar promoted to La Liga, but the bastards stole all of my prize money. So I got stuck with a 200,000 budget for La Liga to rebuild a team that originally consisted of about 8 loanees. I can't give anybody raises, so half my squad wants to leave in January. Luckily, the game won't let me sell anybody, as I then won't have enough players.

I'm pretty much done with online it's so awful. I cruised through divisions 10-5 and won the championship at each division. Now in division 4 I am getting constantly matched up with Real Madrid despite using AC Milan (4.5 stars) or Arsenal (low 5 star). In my 7 games I've played Real 6 times...my latest game? Barca.
In this past game I played Barca I had 19 shots, 14 on goal and 60% possession with pass completion in the 80s. I lost 2-1. He had 3 shots and only spammed chip through balls to Messi. After he got up he kept pausing the game and watching all the highlights to try and get me to quit. Valdes finished with a 9.9, this is why I hate playing online. And his shite talking message afterwards.
I had to vent there because this game is that frustrating.
