Sure but you could let a player go on a free if you really had to get rid of those wages.

not that simple

You have to buy out the rest of the wages

Even if you're right, a new owner will know about it and factor that into their bid price

No ffp creates a super unfair advantage for the sugar daddy clubs which is funny when the anti ffp people argue ffp is about keeping the establishment in power.

Even a club like United can not sustain the type of spending the oil clubs have done

Over a billion just on transfer fees since 2007/08

A club like City just does not bring in enough to sustain their habits, if it was sold. It wouldn't have no where near the sponsorship money if its owner didn't have ties to Etihad.

I'm sorry but that's a ridiculous concern. No one will be forced to buy the club.

That's the free market at work though.

What about if the owners stop caring

Marketing and turn over are a huge factor in when buying a club

The free market also let Liverpool become hours away from going into administration. Stupid spending the club could not handle and then the owner stopped giving a frick.

Not what we're talking about at all

It really just comes off like you support this particular aspect of FFP (that is people injecting their own cash but not putting debt on the club) solely because you're an ManU fan and you a) know that this challenges your clubs hegemony and b)because your rival has an owner that can and will finance large transfers with their own wealth. You keep talking about these past examples but they were all situations that either a) weren't really addressed by FFP in the first place or b) will still be illegal even after this latest revision of the policy.

The take over was only part of it, another part was wages the club could not sustain when the owners didn't want to pay them.

Just ask the Liverpool fans on this board.

exactly why clubs should be self sufficient

to many clubs were going under, something had to be done

the issue is ffp was done half assed

even then, an owner can take money out of the club for other things (read: Blackpool) or just decide to not write checks this week.
