Germany busts out a scheme like that vs. Argentina, and yes, I see Spain putting four past them.

Germany will not use the same tactical scheme they used against Argentina. No way. They are gonna do some bus parking and counter attacking.

Spain won't score 4, but I don't think Germany will either. Unless Spain comes out and plays like they did against Paraguay, I actually think they've got a very good chance of winning.

Once a match is "broken", and it's a semifinal, anything can happen. The team behind heaves forward with all they've got, the gaps are huge, passes needn't be so precise as when there are no spaces, these things can happen (although Spain normally tends to try to "put the game to sleep" when in this position).

I have the feeling that Germany may try some upfield defensive trapping when the FBs have the ball, trying to feed the quick steal behind the CB who's got to shift to try and help the FB out of his quandary.

Problem is, how long can a full court press last?

I truly think this match is slightly more difficult for Spain than for Germany, but if they don't buckle under pressure, assuming of course they don't come out flat, then it will be a great match.

I disagree with the prediction of four goals for Spain, but I do think that too many people are already crowing Germany champions.

Germany has yet to face a midfield anywhere near as talented as the Spanish. Xavi, Iniesta and Xabi Alonso won't give away the ball in the attacking third as easy as Argentina or England.

I think Germany wins this game because of their lethal ability to counter attack. A counter attack needs the right runs, with the right balls, in the right spots to be effective and the Germans are doing it as good as I've seen. They will be able to clog the midfield and take away space while still being able to pressure offensively with counters. The Germans are also taller and stronger and seemed to keep their legs well in the quarters.

Germany will play tight and eat up the space making it difficult for Spain to move the ball into scoring positions. It's going to take something special to break them down, and so far Spain have not been special. They have simply been good enough.

I don't think Germany should be crowned yet either, they're too young to think they'll always be on point. I do think Germany has played better than Spain til this point and Spain hasn't faced a counter as good as Germany's.

i think this game will come down to how well spains center mids get back to defend. they won't be able to keep the ball in germany's half the entire game like they do against most teams

Whoever said spains kids are defensive stalwarts must be high. If Alonso can defend without getting carded, Spain has a good chance.

Alanso is one of the worst tackling deep-lying mids of all time. He makes Beckham look like Beckenbauer

Puyol and Pique play great together, however Capdevilla and Ramos can be beaten.

I'm sure they will play Soggy Biscuits instead of Fabregas again for defensive purposes, but they need Fabregas for creativity.

My off-the-cuff opinion is that Spain is everything Argentina isn't.

Germany may very well win, but it won't be on easy counter-attacks, and I'd be surprised if the total score adds up to 4 goals.

Should be a great match either way. I just hope Spain recaptures some of their best form and makes it interesting.

i haven't seen germans defense challenged yet, so it will be interesting to see them against spain.

Their midfield was fairly awful with setting up their forwards in good goal scoring opportunities. If you noticed; Messi, Tevez and Higuain assisted each other when they scored.
