irony is that half of wales' roster was born in england and probably had no chance of making the english squad. yet it's the three lions who went home early.

England tied the worst Russian team in the history of Russian football.

I hate every player from our Euro squad. Their entitlement is sickening, very similar to England.

I'm just here to reiterate the yellow card rule is the worst rule in sports.

It really is and as I said in another thread it's amazing that everybody agrees it's terrible yet it doesn't change.

The rule is 2 yellow cards from game 1 of the group stage through the quarters warrants a suspension, correct?

How does that make any sense? This dumbass rule is affecting the results of major tournaments significantly. Surely FIFA, UEFA, whoever, can see this. Can someone explain their reasoning for this rule to be in place. Because I don't see how it benefits the players, fans, or the governing bodies when half of a team's starting lineup can't play in the semifinals of the Euros because they got 2 yellows through 5 games.

Yellow cards and often times even reds are handed out and the replay shows that the card was unwarranted. You have one referee out there in charge of policing a game with so many moving parts. The nature of giving out cards to players, when the ramifications of those cards carry so much weight, it's damn near impossible to get it right with any consistency. With no replay system in place to change the call in-game or an effective appeals process after the fact to avoid players being wrongly suspended for a game, how have they not changed this rule yet? It's all just so god damn baffling to me.

Agree 100%. A yellow or red is a spot decision by an on-field official. Anything that affects a future game should be reviewed.

Exactly. There's so many great things about soccer. The reluctance to change little things like yellow card accumulation suspension, etc in order to make the game better is not one of those, unfortunately.
