Great game. Back and forth. Spain played with more risk in extra time. Italy should have made their chances pay.

Great game.

For some reason I feel like I've seen Javi playing forward before. How often has that happened with Spain and Bilbao? I'm assuming that has likely never happened with Bayern.

You have a Michael Bradley avatar so your opinion needs to be valued.

Proud of this Italian team. Hope they utilize this game to get back on top next summer.

Balo out hurt them. It was a great day when Gila took of the Milan shirt, hope I never see him in the NT lineup again.

Surprised that he didn't casually flick his hair away at the end

That requires a useless expenditure of energy.

Well it really all depends on who he is paired with. When Basti is on the pitch his job is primarily at the back, but Basti has made himself such a good defender over the years that he often times plays really deep. When he's paired with Gustavo the tactics are a bit different and Gustavo definitely plays the defensive part. Javi gets forward on occasion but is mostly used in build up and distribution. His game is ready for the big stage no doubt, he made a seamless transition to the squad and still doesn't really speak that much German.

He scored a few goals this year, his first I believe was a bike. It came from a corner though, so that's not really an example of him getting forward

from the Guardian
quote:

It was darned sporting of Spain to play the entire match without a recognised striker.

Not to mention starting with Pedro.

What's Spanish for "taking the piss?"
