@WPLGLocal10: #BREAKING City of Miami, Beckham group agree to build MLS stadium next to Marlins Park

All that posturing to end up at a site that they didn't want. Suppose to be 25K seat stadium.

Marlins park is pretty close to downtown

I thought the old orange bowl was now where close to that.

Honestly FAU's soccer stadium in Boca makes a lot more sense. Unfortunately the World Cup TV ratings make these guys obsessed with the Miami market.

Isn't the Orange Bowl is a terrible area?

Professional sports in Miami is usually a terrible idea.

It's definitely not that great of an area. That being said at least it's closer to the university of miami but that team would sell out every single game if they played on FAU's campus.

Little Havana isn't bad and the food there is dope.

But that said, you're still right. Boca Raton >>>>>>>>>> Little Havana

Yeah I think they should be looking more toward 15k-20k given the terrible attendance most Miami pro sports franchises (and moreover, most FL pro sports franchises) have dealt with over history.

I live a lot closer to Miami than I do Orlando but I'm going to always root Orlando because of how bad Miami fans suck.

Marlins rule tho

When the usmnt went to Boca it was the worst attendance I have seen in years. Palm beach county/ south Florida is a joke when it comes to sports fans. No way would they sell out

Did you go to the game? Did you see how badly FAU police fricked up the traffic flow into that game? A vast majority of the people with tickets to that game gave up because of how fricked the traffic flow was.

I went to the USWNT - Russia game at FAU stadium and it was handled perfectly. The game was nearly a sell out except for the top bleachers.

The men's game would have been sold out if FAU police had done their job instead of just sitting on their cars closing entrances and collecting overtime. I'd assume that they are capable of learning from this experience and correcting it.

Not bad, but Joe Robbie was/is in a super shite hole. It is a super hole, u go there for a game, u better pack heat.

I thought it wasn't bad, then went to Calder the next day and wow.

If their only options were truly the orange bowl, Joe Robbie, or FIU's stadium after the waterfront option fell through then they absolutely chose correctly.

I live in North palm Beach and agree with you. In fact when Honduras scored, I realized a good 30% of that crap attendance was actually rooting for them. I definitely think soccer could work in sfla but I think it would benefit hugely from being a little further west like the Panthers are where lots of families would have easier access. Nothing east of 95 is going to get consistent younger demographics/people with kids to show regularly. It's just a hassle to get downtown, especially at night /after work.

I DO think that DB is going to be able to recruit some huge names down there.
