Anyone catch the match today?

Yep, it was pretty bad. I hate having to play at Loftus Road. The camera angle sucks because the pitch is so small. End of story is Remy was out and we got the 3 points.

Oscar is not playing well imo. Ramires works hard but plays dumb. Matic was played to a standstill in the middle. Drogba needs to get his touch in line. He will score a big goal.if he continues to get playing time. Terry and Cahill were under pressure with Matic being manned up. Courtois came up big. Hazard looked solid and Cesc played well. Stagnant in the attacking third but QPR stacked the box and countered. Three points earned against a scrappy opponent.

He's just not very good.

See above.

He's 37. It's gone and not coming back.

Yes and it's awesome we are going to win the league. However, this team needs some a significant upgrade in depth/quality, especially in attacking positions, if we want to challenge on all fronts next year.

The league is yours for sure. Today cemented that. Courtois saw to that.

Yes and in defense, this has to be Terry's last year at an elite level and Cahill will always be on that cusp. Zouma will be a stud, but will he be there next season? Creativity is the issue, Hazard is GREAT, but where will it come from besides him?

Maybe but people have been saying that for a few years and he's been a rock since Mourinho came back. Even if he drops off slightly he could still be one of the best CBs in the league.

I can't imagine we would allow him not to be. Might make a move for Varane too. Ivan can always play CB if we need him to but that would require signing another fullback. But I do agree we need to add one or two defenders as well both for depth next year and getting ready for life after CLL.

Hazard is GREAT, but where will it come from besides him?

That's always the question for us. It was apparent early on yesterday Hazard was not on his game and what do you know, we didn't create a single shot on goal until Green's donkey goal kick in the 88th minute. Willian works hard but he just isn't good going forward and Oscar sucking again has us in a conundrum.

Our #1 transfer priority imo has to be a replacement for Oscar. I don't know who but someone who can play centrally, is quality in the attack, but still work hard getting back like Jose will demand.

Anybody out there that fits that description?

Won't be easy to find, but Chelsea's history suggests they will find such a player.

We are Champions of Europe once again!

quote:

Our Under-19s were crowned European champions in their age group today when they won the UEFA Youth League final in Switzerland.

The Blues took an early lead as Izzy Brown finished from close range, although Shakhtar levelled half an hour later as Andreas Christensen turned Denys Arendaruk’s cross into his own net.

Chelsea upped the tempo at the start of the second half and netted twice in the opening 10 minutes to take charge of the game. Dominic Solanke nodded in Jeremie Boga’s left-sided cross before Brown added his second and our third with a super left-footed finish from 20 yards.

Chances continued to be created at both ends in the final 30 minutes and Shakhtar added a stoppage-time consolation but Adi Viveash and his players stood strong to claim the trophy-winning victory.

It was a pretty good performance. Izzy and Solanke were unstoppable in this competition.

Brown, Chalobah, Solanke, Loftus-Cheek, Boga, Ake...

I'm ready to see these guys play. Hopefully we can win the next two and give some of these guys some games with the title wrapped up so early.

If they ever actually get to play for Chelsea.

Hope Piazon, Traore, and Van Ginkel can make it back to London and crack the first team soon too.

I was just looking at our guys out on loan. Crazy how quickly I forget about guys like Marin, Romeu, Kakuta, McEachran, Moses... Hard to believe some of those guys are still on our books.

One of my big worries is Mourhino's style and the lack of actually "skilled" attacking players he wants. Besides CB, there is no question we must find someone who can actually put the heat on the opposing defenders. Clearly Mourinho isn't going to look for that on the wing (see: Cuadrado) so it's going to have to come in the form of a player who is a true/natural No.10 (oh where are Mata/De Bruyne ). Oscar just isn't a No.10, I think he'd be fine if we were to move him back as a box-box midfielder.

Van Ginkel
Was just reading something about him staying in Milan because Mourinho doesn't like him (of course could just be speculation)

What does this guy have to do with Chelsea's transfer policy going forward?

I'd love a win tomorrow because the league would be all but wrapped up early and the kids could play the last few games, but I'm expecting Mourinho to make a boring, boring 0-0 or 1-1.

Love a win. Win this week and next and then play the youth. Good news is we can even lose both and still win the league.
