The ugly truth is MLS has benefited other Concacaaf nations more than the US.

Need to have an honest post mortem talk about this cycle down the line when emotions are not as high

Does the MLS have (and does it need) a homegrown/US born quota? Would that help the development?

Hell, most of the team for Panama and Honduras are current or former MLS players. Costa Rica has benefited, too.

This is a bogus counter argument against the MLS. If you think that because other teams in the Americas are also developing it is ultimately hurting the USA, then you are just wrong.

Yes MLS has players from Central America who are helping those countries. But I would rather those countries be good and the USA just needs to be better (which with the population differences we should be).

If you want the USA to keep squeezing in the World Cup just because the rest of Concacaf is shite, and then we get dominated by the European and South American teams, then things will never change and USA soccer will always be mediocre.

If you ever want US soccer to truly be world class then you just have to accept that our neighbors will get better too, and that is not a bad thing.

my bad. I have seen some people post on here tonight that the MLS is bad for the reasons I spelled out, and I just think it is a silly argument.

If you were actually defending the MLS then I think we are on the same page

I just think we are all on edge tonight and super defensive

There needs to be some incentive to play young players. I don't really care if some average 27 year old is getting regular minutes, but it's a joke that a guy like EPB can't buy a start for SKC.

But MLS does have a limit on how many foreign players you can have on the roster, but there's ways to get around that (looking at you, AUFC) and the foreign spots can be traded.

The issue is that there's not really an incentive to develop players, outside of to win the cup. If they do happen to sell a player to a European club, the league gets a portion of that money.
