I could see both leaving Spain, I really could.

Iniesta´s contract renewal is meeting with myriad complications, and we all know Iker´s predicament.

What say yáll?

Do you really think there´s room? Who would they sell?

If Pellegrini doesn´t pull Málaga´s Argentine keeper, I absolutely see this.

I also see Touré possibly going back to Barça (if he´s OK with playing CB ALOT).

ETA Willy Caballero, I couldn´t remember his name when I posted. He is good.

So funny, but I´d imagine he´d figure out football, and do a hell of a job. I really do.

He´d need a lengthy sabbatical and the corresponding immersion and learning, but I really do.

He´s probably meeting with some resistance on salary and/or length of the new contract.

Catalonian press say he´ll sign in December.

BTW Bayern´s Javi Martínez féd up a knee today in Spain´s camp.

Just fricking go completely with Lopez, already

Well if that's true, we could use another center mid. Although Thiago is finally getting back.

only defensive mid roles up for grabs at bayern with Martinez and Schwiensteiger injuries, Iniesta doesn't fit well into the system IMO The bayern attack is based upon big strong players in the middle, and speed and agility on outside. And they've gotta run out of funds eventually. Maybe with Robben's exit comes Iniesta

You mean the system that made him a household name? He's not as direct as some Bayern players but he's the perfect Guardiola player. He's a fantastic dribbler and works between the lines better than nearly every other AM in the world.

Don't get me started on Pep's "system" I could create a pretty damn good system if i coached 11 of the top 100 players on the world too.

Iniesta is a great player, Pep or his "system" didn't make him such though.

Has iniesta ever played successfully "between the lines" as the support of a target striker as opposed to a creator? Villa Messi, and Torres all work well with Andres because they are quick and craft as well, Manzukic not so much. Torres would be the closest, but his skill on the ball is well ahead of the Mario's

Before Pep Iniesta was not considered a great player. Though young and promising, he was often a deputy to the more established players. He was often a sub off the bench, and was willing to play anywhere, despite the fact he preferred to play centrally. Under Guardiola he blossomed into a world class player.

Iniesta's game works horizontally, which fits with what Pep wants to do in terms of spacing, making the field as wide as possible closer and closer to goal. Iniesta's movement off the ball and ability to move with it means he is rarely dispossessed. Yet he has the ability to slalom from deep ( the first Italy game from the Euros has some great examples of this) and pick a pass. But his job as a "space negotiator" is more about probing for openings then dealing directly with the final ball. His assist record bears that out.

how would he fit in with a midfield stacked with strong no nonsence players who are often looking for passes to skip over a player to generate space for ribery and robben on the outside? He might be a good match for pep, but i don't think he plays like the rest of Bayerns midfield

Well he's better than Thiago for now, though he plays much differently.

He's versatile enough to slot in anywhere in midfield. With BM dominating possession as much as they do, they don't need big players as much as they need players who always know what to do with the ball. It'd be an interesting experiment.

i agree it'd be interesting, and im not saying it wouldn't work, just that it wouldn't match what Bayern (and german football for that matter) has been for a while. Large simplistic players as opposed to the spanish meistros.

Appreciate the intelligent input, i cant stand talking soccer on here with the poor informed, or bandwaggoners who just push ManU or Barca

Lahm is the best defensive mid on the team and bayern is nowhere close to running out of funds. I have more comments to make later when I have more time.

Iniesta said he doesn't care about foreign offers and would like to stay at Barca.
