Daily Mail reporting it as well.

quote:

Sam Allardyce has stunned Crystal Palace by telling them he wants to quit as their manager.

As Sportsmail revealed on Monday night, Allardyce wanted certain assurances from Selhurst Park chairman Steve Parish before committing his future to the club.

But a meeting with Parish earlier on Tuesday ended with Allardyce announcing his desire to leave just days after he celebrated keeping Palace in the Premier League with victory over Hull on May 14.

Sky now reporting it, too.

Off to wait until mid-season, when he comes back to keep a bottom table team from relegation. Like the goddamn Batman he is.

Come home big Sam!!!!!

We know you feel guilty and you'll be welcomed back.

ETA: I'm way too excited about this stupid hypothetical.

Time for Sam to take a long vacation, do some dancing, and then in February, swoop in to save some poor fans souls.

I don't blame him, if they refuse to spend cash to improve the club, you owe them nothing. The Owners were able to keep this team together because of his work in keeping them up. Championship money might be ok, but it ain't EPL tv money.

All jokes aside, we all know what this really means.

Big Sam quit Palace so he can take the Barcelona job.

Pretty sure Moyes already has a handshake deal with Barca.

Crystal Palace have only had one non-British Isles manager in their history. Interesting.

Can't believe Steve Parish wouldn't add unlimited pies and bottles of wine to his contract. Surely, that would've put him over the edge to stay.

What are you talking about? BFS stated it had nothing to do with available wages or anything at all with the board.

Palace have been willing to spend. See:
Benteke, Townsend, rumored Zaha offer, plus the Luka, PVA, and Schlupp deals made in the last year.

I have no idea why but I have a little bit of a soft spot for Palace, I hope they get someone who will keep them competitive 36/38 weeks

I think most people do. Season preview of them 2 season ago referred to them as everyone's second favorite premier league team. I think that's accurate for a lot of people to an extent due to the atmosphere and more so when they were pretty fun and athletic a few seasons ago.

Think Sam just wants to retire. He REALLY wanted the England job and I think he saw it as more rewarding at his age than the day to day rigors of running a club.
