City/QPR by a mile:

1. Stakes - the title vs going to SEC Champ

2. Auburn's last NC: 2010
City's last league title: in the 1960's

The auburn return is wayyyy fricking better for a ton of reasons.

Amongst them being the fact that city not totally shitting the bed against qpr is not that cool. The match up itself had no story or rivalry to it at all.

Right, but by doing it they snatched it out of United's hands. Indirectly, it had massive story/rivalry impact.

Teams have scored multiple goals in stoppage time plenty of times. What happened in Auburn has never happened in college football history.

And it will probably never happen again. The Man City game was exciting but the events in Auburn were jaw dropping.

You also have to remember we blocked a FG and had a 65ish yard drive in the final two and a half minutes finished off by a 40 yard TD pass with 30 seconds left.

It was already pretty close to a instant classic BEFORE the greatest play in college football history.

Watched the 1st half in the Arena, snuck in at halftime, proceeded to have the greatest night in history!

I haven't come down yet but the fact that I am 31 years old and know for a fact I will never see another play/ending/moment like that in my life is kinda depressing. My sports fandom experience can only go down from here.

I feel the same why about my young sportswriting career. I don't think I'll ever cover two more insane finishes.

that's a solid angle, but like you said, "indirectly." it's way cooler to snatch a title out of your rival's hands pretty damn directly.

The auburn finish left me saying wtf while the city finish had me jumping up and down going nuts in the middle of work. To me personally the city finish was bigger, but it is easy to see how the auburn finish wins in a landslide for most objective fans.
