At his peak, was Ronaldo Nazario the fastest most explosive player ever?

Look at his acceleration and burst and how he blows past defenders with so much ease. And the guy weighed well over 200 lbs and was strong as a bull. I think he's the most physically gifted player to ever play the game sort of like what Lebron is to basketball. Just imagine the heights he would have reach if he didn't blow out his knees at age 23.

Here's Theo Walcott at his fastest. If you look right when the video hits :01, he's about 30 yards down the field and he crosses into the opponent's box at about :07.5. That's approximately 65 yards in 6.5 seconds taking two dribbles and a slightly curved route!

The Bale goals vs Inter were the most impressive show cases of speed and power I've ever seen. And then having the fitness to finish with the power and precision he did was incredible.
Bar none.
Bar none.

Bale was on his way to be a world class sprinter in his youth. He ran like an 11 second 100m at 14 years old.
It gives me hope for the future of American Soccer. World class speedsters in soccer would have dime a dozen speed in the NFL.
I'm fully aware of the importance of technical ability. That can be taught over a period of time. Speed can not. America has more really fast people than any other country. More and more of them will grow up playing soccer moving forward. My hope is that our lack of technical ability in 20 years will be compensated for by our supreme power and pace.

I agree but elite technical ability can't be totally "taught". It does require some innate abilities like spatial awareness , coordination, etc that "fast" people don't necessarily always have. But overall I agree.
Also, speed can be taught, to some extent.

We've been hearing this for way too long.
But as long as we keep losing guys like Odell Beckham Jr to other sports, we'll never be in the elite category.
The MLS growing will help and so will the extra EPL coverage, but yea, its still amazing we haven't really realized a "phenom" at any point in our soccer history.
Adu was supposed to be that guy but obviously everyone knows how that went.

LOL what?
Who's to say he would have been any good at all?

He played club ball and played up an age level or two. I have a friend who played with him who said he was really good and stupid quick. He was small and skinny at the time.
Even if he had stuck with it, we don't have the ability to develop world class technique in this country, so it's a moot point.

I know, that's my point.
We have athletes.
We have athletes.

we are athletic for a soccer team
but we produce another level of athlete that you don't find in soccer
those guys may allow us to inch up a bit in quality with our technical issues remaining flat
we'll still need technical maestros in the midfield to pull the strings, but we could make up for a lot of issues with the american super athlete at center back, winger, striker, and fullback...at least theoretically

Bingo. He should have played at a lower weight I'd argue that was a direct contributor to his fragility.
On topic, I don't know. CRon, while probably not the same top speed, is far quicker and nearly as strong with a bigger body. And I don't even like him.
Robben, Walcott, Henry are all faster.

a big part of that strategy is the refs. if they reward flopping and penalize strength in the air, it would never work

Whatever. These people are going to have the comparative touch of a donkey (as yáll are fond of saying), at that level.
You´ll get some keepers, CBs and the odd FB, methinks.
Even a striker has some technical capability needs which are beyond the average.....
Yes, yes he was.
