Cavani has insanely good movement and athleticism. Good thing for us he can't finish worth a shite

No idea what Iwobi was doing on that "defensive" header. Zero clue. It wasn't an attempt to clear it, he didn't duck out of the way, I just don't know... Ugh.

And Ramsey often would pass it backward first time with zero pressure on him, as if he wasn't aware of his surroundings. It was frustrating at times when he appeared to have space to turn and go but would pass it back.

Yeesh.

Yeah I thought Ramsey had a good game but he had a lot of one touch passes backwards or sideways when he should have turned and gone, and some attempted dribbles and flicks when he should have played it backwards simply.

He might still be getting his feet in that CM position. Thought it was his best game for us there in awhile.

Can someone tell me how the game went today? Did we get lucky again because Cavani sucks at finishing?

I only saw the second half. We were heavily on top the first 20 minutes of the half, didn't have a ton of clear cut chances thought. Lot of bad decisions around the box.

Then they were pressuring but not really creating clear cut either until their goal on the corner. Then we made our subs and regained a footing in the game but that's also when Cavani cut us to pieces twice, should've had two goals. One missed a golden header wide, then tried to chip ospina on the break but ospina shut him down.

Last 10 minutes or so were pretty even. Thought the CB's were good, although Cavani had his moments. Ramsey and Coq were good. Sanchez was Sanchez. Everywhere and instrumental in both our goals. Ozil was solid. Gibbs and Jenkinson were ok in defense, but there's a pretty steep drop for both of them going forward. Iwobi had flashes but was probably our biggest waster of attacks going forward and had the terrible attempted header for their second.

We are still playing our second string keeper in champions league matches. Arsène

Thanks for the explanation. I hope we play well in our next game and lock up the top spot in the group.

I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain PSG holds the tiebreaker over us on away goals, which is a stupid rule in group stages if it is in fact the rule.

Which means they have to drop points for us to finish top

You're correct.

I agree with the away goals rule counting in group stages as a tiebreaker. Wtf.

We are ahead on goal differential by three. Does that not matter?

Apparently not. Just hope they can drop some points and we can get a win in Basel.

But knowing Arsenal, we'll end up in first and get drawn with a 2nd seeded Real

It's head to head goal differential and then away goals in head to head games. Away goals are super dumb in general, but it's even dumber in a group stage setting.

Regardless we have a 33% chance of a good draw with the Benfica/Besiktas leader or Monaco/Leverkusen leader, and then getting juventus/Sevilla winner wouldn't be terrible. Especially if Sevilla could knick it

Yeap. Iwobi is just timid at times, doesn't attack the ball.

And Ramsey. Dude is a skilled player, but wtf. Stop passing it backwards when there is no need to.

The response at beginning of 2nd half was great though.

See I thought Ramsey was excellent yesterday. He balanced being postionally balanced and making runs well. Yes there were some backwards passes but he also had some key balls forward and his movement was masterful, especially in the second half. His work on the Giroud shot that Marquinhos blocked was a great example. His run on the Ball Alexis played in that just missed him was typical Ramsey and he was an inch from the winner.

He also had 5 tackles and was superb defensively. If he plays like that he and Xhaka will be a formidable pairing. I hope Wenger goes that route from the start soon. I love Coq but he should be depth and end of game solidification behind the Ramsey-Xhaka pairing IMO. Wenger tends to take his time on these things but it's time.

Line-up vs Bournemouth: Cech, Debuchy, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Xhaka, Elneny, Ox, Walcott, Özil, Sanchez

Xhaka finally getting a start. Interested in how Debuchy does.
