Dramatic changes must be made at many levels, but it all starts at the top. In no uncertain terms, the President of the United States Soccer Federation, Sunil Gulati, must go. Despite past successes he has presided over an unmitigated disaster and the Federation needs fresh leadership and ideas from top to bottom. Bruce Arena was brought in with the singular mission of getting us to the World Cup. He has failed and should step down as well. The buck stops with them and we call on them to accept the responsibility of this outcome. As for the players we thank them and will always be behind them in the stands. We ask that the next time the players step on the field for their country they individually and collectively play with a renewed sense of urgency as we reinvigorate the fan base and begin to build towards qualification for the 2022 World Cup.

Wow what a bold statement from the AO.

If we are making changes from the top down, can we get rid of the American Outlaws moniker? I always thought Sam's Army sounded better.

May not be bold, but still was needed to be said.

What specifically was wrong with their statement?

What specifically would you have wanted said or not said?

American outlaws and Sam's army are two completely different entities.

I know. But it seems in the last few years, Sam's Army has been eaten by the AO. Now, there is really just one supporter group. I just think American Outlaws is a terrible name and Sam's Army sounds a lot better.

Everyone is already calling for this and it's going to happen, regardless of what AO says.

Wouldn't have wanted anything said by them. AO is not some entity that should be making or calling for decisions for the future of our program. It's great that they've gotten the fan base organized, but they need to stay out things related to the strategy of the U.S. program.

Might want to tell Sunil and Bruce.

We just failed to qualify for the World Cup and our president doesn't think we need too many changes.

I mean, Bruce will be gone one way or the other by the time we start playing important matches again... Sunil is fricking teflon though, which scares me.

I hope so, Sunil may actually survive this. He's a fricking cockroach.

They are the official supporters group of US soccer. I think they are voicing what the vast overwhelming majority of US fans are thinking.

The Outlaws could help by not cheering like Europeans and just be loud obnoxious drunk American fans. The songs, drums, scarfs and bullshite needs to go.

We don't live in Manchester and that's ok.

A supporters group making a statement like that is definitely bold. At least in American sports.
