Your New Orleans Jesters kicked their season off with a 3-0 win over a vaunted Houston Hurricanes squad.

That was a great game but that Houston team wasn't very good.

It was their second string, they left most of their guys home, they had a big game this morning.

Houston had a big game?

Looks like jesters used a lot of the guys who plays on their reserve squad.

Their words not mine. They were bussing out at 4am

Bunch of kids are still in school. I was surprised to see Ralph out there thought he'd still be at cornell. I know the new attacker used to be in the Tottenham academy.

The right back (#4) was beyond bad. #17 got zero help from him on that side and as a result was really under pressure a lot. The left side was solid in the back, especially #14. In the midfield #8 was weak. He lost almost every 50/50 ball unless he was sliding in on the run. #18 looked excellent as did #3. The other mids looked solid. Up top, #9 was the workhorse and #10 seemed self absorbed. To turn the ball into pressure as often as he did kind of illustrates to me he seems to be all about him. He does have talent though. in short, the back line still needs work. I can understand a weaker left back, but with the amount of talent around the area, a weak right back is unacceptable. Better central midfield play is also a must Imo. 18 can't go it alone. The keepers were solid. The 2nd half sub there was good from an athletic standpoint, but he seemed shaky in terms of positioning. All in all, #'s 3, 9,18, and 14 really impressed me. #'s 20 (a great strike btw), 5, 17, and the left back were solid. #8, 10, and both keepers have potential. The right back was really quite poor on the night. My original assessment for the season currently stands, with an improved back line, this team will be tough to beat. I didn't see that last night. Replacing the right back will help #17 and shore things up. If that is done, I predict a pretty good year, especially if 3,9 and 18 stay healthy.

I'm hoping Ryan Reed (the guy with great speed who came on in the second half and changed the game) starts to start over Jordan rice (that right back you don't like). 18 is Keir and he's usually the standout player. 10 had a brace in the game before this one. He has speed and good finishing but struggled with the force's physicality. 9 is definitely the workhorse up top. The hustle never stops and he will play any role for the team. He even played some right back last night. There is a reason he is team captain. I though 8 (Mason in midfield) played well enough. He had one of the assists and we dominated the midfield, and the game, for the last 25 minutes of the first half and the first 25 minutes of the second half. I like our left back. He has a lot of fight in him but I worry about him getting cards. Our left winger was Rolando Sanchez who had two goals and an assist so not a lot to critique there, except that he can sometimes be predictable. Our defense was very uncoordinated to start the game and we paid for it. Nathan (left center back) has great touch.

Good to know some details. As for the midfield play, there was a lot of route one futbol last night which really by-passed the middle. 18 was the key deliverer playing quite a few dime balls. Maybe with more play there 8 would have impressed me more. All in all though it was a good night and this team shows promise. I'll be back to take in another match or two for sure.

He has been battling a bad leg. Going for a ball against SHreveport, his leg got taken out. He was removed from the game and didn't start last saturday but did come on in relief.
