What I read is that he wasn't "settling in" well in England and that he wasn't used to training as hard as he needed to.

Blind and Rojo can play LB or CB, while Shaw is a LB. The team is moving to a 4-3-3.

The other way around, Rodgers came out yesterday and told him he should take the opportunity to go get playing time...
I think Sunderland's deal is off the table since he waited so long and we want a permanent deal and not a loan..

And "wc defenders" doesn't always mean quality.
ETA: Why would anyone sign Defoe? He's been in semi-retirement since he went to Toronto.
