Just as MARCA reported on 14th January, Martin Ödegaard has accepted Real Madrid's offer to join the La Liga giants.

With the Norwegian prodigy being chased by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, his hometown newspaper, 'Drammens Tidende' reported on Monday that the two clubs would soon kick off negotiations after news broke that the young player had decided to join Real Madrid.

According to sources in Norway, he will train with the first team and play with Real Madrid Castilla. Ödegaard's team, Stromsgodset will meet with representatives from Real Madrid on neutral ground, Germany, on Wednesday or Thursday to thrash out a deal.

The transfer fee is thought to be in the region of €4m, although it could be less. That is the only loose end left to tie up as personal terms were quickly agreed with the player and his family, especially after his recent trip to Madrid.

His meeting with Florentino Pérez at Valdebebas, his training session with the first team and above all, club legend Zidane, all played a part in Ödegaard's final decision.

His father would move to Madrid with him. The club has offered Hans Erik Ödegaard a job within its youth set-up. This way, he can ensure that Martin not only develops his game, but also sticks to his studies.

Cheryshev comes back from his Villarreal loan spell, to stay.

Athletic de Bilbao is offering €25M for Asier Illarramendi.

Isco signed through 2020 (like Varane).

Lucas Silva left Cruzeiro's squad at their Toca de la Raposa II training base and was undergoing a medical examination at a Belo Horizonte on Thursday afternoon. Cruzeiro justified his absence by saying that it was merely routine, but the Brazilian press has been speculating that the tests were the preliminary examinations ahead of a transfer to Real Madrid.

The Bernabéu reignited interest in the Brazilian two days ago. Athletic Bilbao's offer to take Asier Illarramendi to San Mámes has resulted in Real Madrid stepping up their efforts to secure Silva's services. An announcement could be made later today. If signed, Silva will agree a six-year contract for a fee of between 13 and 15 million euros.

Martin Ødegaard took part in his first training session wearing the Real Madrid shirt. As was promised at his unveiling, the young Norwegian ran out onto the Valdebebas training pitch with the rest of the first team to carry out the usual exercises.

Even though the newbie will play for Zinedine Zidane's Castilla, he trained under the orders of Carlo Ancelotti, who wanted to appreciate the player's skills from close up. The Italian manager may very well be calling on the new signing in the near future.

Other news regarding the training session was the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese, who has just been presented with a two-game ban for his antics during Real's last game, exercised inside the sports facilities with Pepe and Luka Modric, the team's two walking wounded. Ancelotti is hoping to have both players back in the team around the middle of February.

Bale leads RM in the Bernabéu today.

Illarra gets the start against his old club, and Lucas Silva should see action, as well.

On a Valentine's Day that was characterised by more than a few jitters at the Bernabéu, it was Isco who brought the romance. The former Málaga man was once again Real Madrid's brightest spark. He scored a beauty, provided plenty of glimpses of his technical wizardry and put in a huge shift physically - periodically defusing the tension and earning himself one of the few ovations of the day from a crowd who were on edge with a number of other players. Isco wasn't only the best player on the pitch: he also papered over the cracks for some of his teammates. For example, his opening goal, which paved the way for the hard-fought victory, saved Cristiano Ronaldo's blushes after the Portuguese star had failed to convert from inches out just seconds earlier. The 22-year-old is a peerless combination of the attributes that the Bernabéu faithful treasure: talent and commitment. The former is something he was born with, while the latter has been added to the package over the last year. Right now the Andalusian is the player who has the best connection with the fans. "They always sing for me and I try to repay that on the pitch by doing my utmost. I'm grateful to the fans for the strength they give me with their chants", the playmaker stated after the 2-0 win, the broad smile on his face encapsulating his delight at his status as the darling of the most demanding supporters in the world. Good article in As by the Frenchman Frédéric Hermel, about Pogba.

Zidane is leading the campaign to get him signed at RM, but this article elaborates on Pogba´s lack of mental preparation for such a responsibilty at this point in his career:

quote:

Cheryshev and Casemiro Will Return to Chamartín

quote:

Carlo Ancelotti has described Isco's place in his starting XI as non-negotiable if he continues his current run of form. "If he keeps playing like he has been, his place is non-negotiable", he told a press conference. Isco started the season on the bench, but right now he is first-choice at Real Madrid and Ancelotti has even ruled out benching him when Luka Modric, James Rodríguez and Sami Khedira return from injury. "He's played well in every position. I think we should use him more going forward than in defence, although the key to his current run of form has been his defensive attitude" the Italian highlighted. On another note, Ancelotti confirmed that Modric "is almost ready" to make a come-back. The Croat has been out injured since last November, but the Real boss has hinted that he plans to give him some playing time during their champions League last sixteen return leg against Schalke 04 on 10th March. "We're physically fit and ready going into the business end of the season", said Ancelotti. La Liga leaders, Real Madrid have a tough game this Sunday, and Ancelotti was full of praise for their opponents, Villarreal. "They're a quality, well-organised team and they play good football. They beat Atlético and put in a good performance against Barcelona. They're a very good side", he warned. (English version)
