He obviously tried to be subtle, placing "QS 5:51" on the shirt of a character, but readers caught on to the fact that it is Quran Surah 5:51:
It was in apparent protest of the election of a Christian governor in Indonesia.
Apparently lost on the artist is that Christians are a minority in Indonesia, and that he just advocated the persecution of a minority in a comic that dedicates itself to warning against the dangers of persecuting minorities.

quote:
“O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.”

Umm Christians can't be persecuted you bigot

Yeah, he's an artist on the book. Big news on the comic book industry scene. Sad when you consider Stan Lee and Jack Kirby are Jewish.

The tide has turned in the culture war
Trump said all those things that weren't just politically incorrect but flat out bawdy and rude and we still elected him

The funniest thing is that he thought he could get away with it. If any group out there will nitpick the hell out of everything, its comic book fans.

My career is over now. It’s the consequence what I did, and I take it. Please no more mockery, debat, no more hate. I hope all in peace.
In this last chance, I want to tell you the true meaning of the numbers, 212 and QS 5:51.
It is number of JUSTICE. It is number of LOVE. My love to Holy Qur’an…my love to the last prophet, the Messenger…my love to ALLAH, The One God.
My apologize for all the noise. Good bye, May God bless you all. I love all of you.
-Ardian Syaf-“
How the frick is this a passage of love? Maybe justice if you were a hardcore antisemite/antichristian, but love doesn't even make sense.

There was a muslim green lantern once that had that crazy squiggly writing tatoo on his arms. Now I wonder what it said, might pull my comics out and research

Apparently that wasn't a liberal deal, it was a religious deal. It shows the true colors of even moderate Muslims.
Don't ever forget that in their eyes you are unworthy of life if you don't believe exactly we they do.

You mean Simon Baz? He's still around.
His tattoo reads "courage" in Arabic.

Yes, he's an Arab-American from Dearborn Michigan who happens to be Muslim. The writer Geoff Johns is from Detroit.
