I deal with welders on a regular basis.

That part actually makes me less empathetic.

It's still okay to poke fun at welder stereotypes, right?

I heard Mark Levin talking about this.

It's disturbing.

Sure.

Being a pipeline engineer I deal with welders on a regular basis too.

The poor guy follows the rules, gets state approval and then Obama's EPA rules otherwise after his pond is built.

I'm also surprised David Vitter is trying to help out this guy along with the two senators from WY.

EPA has gone batshit crazy. They'll turn public opinion against them if they don't be more careful. Their regulations are meant to make the environment better so we can have a better standard of living, but they're becoming militant.

That's exactly what this thread is about.

That was a usual tactic used by those who disagree.

Make you look like the extreme one so that your opinion is discredited.

The EPA is completely out of control.

where does the "eliminate the EPA" thing come from?

From goofy anecdotes like this.

Police depts are out of control, too, but we're not getting rid of them.

It's silly to come after a man a small pond. I'm having trouble thinking what the downstream affects could even be? Beavers disrupt creak flows every day. Should we exterminate them?

this is one of those things where as a liberal who supports what the EPA is supposed to be about, this is obviously ridiculous

I'm not sure. You're the only one who has stated anything about eliminating the EPA.

Ok.

Not sure why you jumped directly to "get rid of them," but it isn't an all or nothing situation. That is pretty obvious.

Now, why do you want to eliminate the EPA?

the problem is outrage by anecdote. It's clearly awful, but people then draw conclusions from it.

I can find an anecdote of the awfulness of anything that is big enough.

No, most people will go on not giving a shite until it affects them.

You say anecdote, and I say more common occurrence.

Is there a specific number of instances that must occur before we are supposed to become unnerved?

I want the EPA reigned in. How many more instances must occur before I am allowed to support that position?

The cop analogy was actually a good one. I want cops reigned in as well.

LINK

quote:

In the halls of Washington, D.C. and back in Alaska, politicians are looking into the actions of what they say is a heavy-handed Environmental Protection Agency. Gov. Sean Parnell announced Thursday he has selected Anchorage attorney Brent Cole to serve as a Special Counsel to investigate the August raids of the Alaska Environmental Crimes Task Force -- an EPA-led group of armed and armored officers that descended on the area to look for violations of the Clean Water Act.

This is how you lose the PR game.

oddly enough, if the government could stop fricking up shite its trying to do, I would support a lot of government programs.

I just have zero faith for them to ever get it right

Jump to conclusions much? In the posts above both of your posts no one ever said eliminate the EPA.

Oh, I forgot this is your attack/troll M.O.

The EPA is needed and typically gets it right. The issue is that EPA and other government agencies have lost all common sense.
