Old folks in wheelchairs do not deserve to vote. Veterans without an arm or leg do not deserve to vote. Laid off people, or make less than $15.38 per hour do not deserve to vote. Or housewives. Or, as per the constitution, women or blacks.

Nice response.

I don't think people should be denied a vote, I just think the votes of people who pay for the system should count more towards how that system is operated. For example, the vote of an income taxpayer would count 3X the vote of a non income taxpayer. I assume you disagree?

hate to break it to you, but there are a lot of people that depend on the government check as their sole source of income. Are you going to argue that they pay taxes?

your payment free boarder =/= an American citizen under constitution and the law

Your analogy doesn't really work.

His analogy is meant to point out a flaw in current law.

Yes. Welcome to America where citizens get to vote. What country did you come from?

plutocrats of the world unite!

all kidding aside, the vote of a billionaire "counts" the same as someone who pays much much less, or nothing, in taxes. but that billionaire can literally buy access to politicians through lobbyists, PACs, and campaign contributions in a way that less fortunate citizen cannot. so the access of the wealthy to the political system and their voice in the political process is already much greater than ordinary citizens. no need to magnify that.

If we actually had a limited federal govt as designed, I would have no problem with everyone voting. With our current govt, not so much

Read the article that I posted. 96% pay taxes.

And btw, an awful lot of people who depend on a government check, mainly the elderly, vote Republican.

If that is a "flaw" in the law, then he must believe there is a "flaw" the concept of American citizenship and equality (not that each person is equal in ability, but equal as citizens and as citizens under the law . . . a concept that the country has struggled mightily to embody).

People really only care about federal taxes because states can't print money. There has to be some reasonable association between revenue and spending unlike the federal govt.

So at a federal level, less than half pay income taxes, payroll deductions are insurance premiums, not taxes, so unless you are giving people credit for the excise tax on the 1/5th of mad dog they buy, your argument doesn't fly.

Not as many as you think. And they make up an even less percentage of the voting population.

I do not believe that a parasitic citizen of this country with no intent to change is equal to a producer who is funding the country and making it work.

As a property owner in EBR Parish, I have to pay for a bus system through property tax that was voted for in a gerrymandered voting district comprised mainly of non-property owners.

Explain to me how a non-property owner pays for property tax and how that somehow gives them a stake in deciding what I should pay.

We have a society of free, or next to free, boarders that complain daily about their right to a piece of your pie.
