Why was Duke rape case national news but not the Maryland case?

Everyone remembers the Duke rape case some years ago where a bunch of white lacrosse players were accused of raping a black stripper, right? Remember the media circus that followed the case 24/7 wall to wall, at least until it was proven they were innocent? It was the biggest story in the nation for months.
But for some reason, this rape case in Maryland has been totally ignored by the MSM. In case you've not heard of this case, here's a link...

But for some reason the same media outlets who breathlessly covered the Duke case as soon as they got a whiff of it, were oddly silent when this story broke...

So why was the Duke case something they jumped on immediately but the Maryland case was ignored when it broke?

Media prefers to report crimes commited by white people. Otherwise they might be racist

Because fake news only reports on stories that attack white males and absolutely refuse to report anything negative to the liberal agenda. It's not real news they're partisan liberal advertising stations, that's all they are.

Hell, Maryland passed the sanctuary state status four (4) days after the rape. Governor says he won't sign it.

Honestly the Duke rape case probably would not have been as big as it was if ESPN hadn't covered it nightly. I think it's in most of your minds because you heard about it on ESPN every night.

Meh? Any psychologist worth their weight in salt will tell you rape in not a crime of sex, but a crime of power and control. Black and brown people have no power and are not allowed to be in any positions of control, therefore black and brown people can not commit the act of rape. Much the same way black and brown people can not be racist, they haven't the authority.
Soooo. No rape, No story...

I remember when George HW Bush would mention media bias, I would have to squint to see it. Now, it's so in your face that you would have to incredibly slow not to notice. Whether its completely changing the story or just omitting one all together, they just cannot present straightforward news.

Not true in all cases.
The Duke case was as much about college sports being (supposedly, in that case) "out of control".
The media has been thrashing the rape culture down at Baylor among its football team (though with the added twist of institutional cover-up), and virtually all the rapists have been black.
