Why the sudden fear that we may be on the same side as the Russians?

The mistake many make is that they look at things from a modern American viewpoint...and really half of that is an progressive dogma dictated by the coasts.

We are a pretty temperate people, both in climate and attitude. We have a short history. In essence...we know nothing.

The Rus...for millennia they have been scraping an existence out of the frozen ground, being constantly assailed by invaders and outsiders.

They are a hard people. A strong, resilient people. A cold people.

To expect them To play the game with comparatively soft western sensibilities is folly. They are pragmatic and cunning. And history (theirs more than most) show that you should never fully trust ANY ally.

But against the Muzzie horde they are the ally we need. They are willing to get their hands dirty. They are geographically positioned to do the lions share of the killing and suffer the most casualties. Honestly, they are what the American forces need to have, (mentality wise).

This is the doom of the west that looms, streams into the homelands of our ancestors, rapes and kills our distant kindred and assails our very existence.

If the Russians are willing to stand against such a menace while the mincing cowards and traitors of the EU welcome cultural suicide, I'd sooner cast my lot in with the russkies.

This is reason #1 that we'd be better served with Russians as allies than enemies.

When threatened they'll throw every last man, woman and child at the enemy.

They'll pop out little Ivans just to have something to load into cannons from the Napoleonic era. They will fight until the blood freezes in their veins (hard to do since alcohol doesn't freeze easy.)

In this day and age, I wouldn't be surprised if most people's dislike of Russia comes from movies.

I liken it to the Alliance between Men and Elves (or Maybe even Dwarves and Elves)

We may not agree or get along but the threat of the Orcs vastly outweighs whatever past grievances we may have had.

The USSR collapsed on itself (like the commies always do eventually)

The base people...the Rus, are a natural ally. And if we meet them on neutral ground as allies, we will probably effect more upon their culture than if we come across as an antagonist.

I agree.
I didn't grow up in the Cold War era, but I don't understand why such a vast majority of people I know hate them so much.
I've said it all along; we need to make peace with Russia. They are the one country that can make or break a future America.
I, for one, am glad Trump wants to have a good relationship with them.

Yep, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Not that we will ever dissolve radical Islam. When ISIS is gone, the next one will sprout.

I see Russia as being a heck of a lot more like us than China.

The Russian death total in WW2 was staggering.Didn't know the U.S. lost the least.

To kill all the crazy Persians we're going to have to work with Russia.Especially in Syria.

Regime change does not work.

eta: Reagan and Gorbachov had a good working relationship.I think Trump and Putin can also.

The fact that we're arming a bunch of Sunni Rebels we know nothing about, except that they have the backing of the Saudis,is fricked up.

I'm all for a tight relationship with Russia while we have a strong leader (i.e. Trump). A close relationship with Russia while we have a weak leader (i.e. Obama) would be catastrophic.

Oh shut the hell up! It's the best plan ever!
It's never backfired on us once throughout history!

We armed the Mujahideen to defeat the Soviets.
We armed the Iraqis to beat the Iranians.
We armed the Somalians.
We armed the Vietnamese.

It ALWAYS works out in our favor. Flawless results.

Remember that time the Russians proved the Democrats were liars?

We do.

It's just another empty argument by the left, nothing more and nothing less. There's absolutely no reason the US and Russia shouldn't have a friendly relationship.

What makes you think they would be on our side? They have a large Muslim population, and they've built large mosques in Moscow and Grozny to assuage their growing Muslim population. The Moscow-Tehran axis has been the key alliance fundamental to their foreign policy. Unless they are threatened, they won't come to the aid of anyone else. They are attempting to ensure they won't be threatened by Islam or anyone else.

From what I've seen they back the secular muslims. It's the fundamentalists that are the bigggest problem.

They are all alcoholics. Also, there seems to be a large amount of women from there that have huge boobs.

There's two good reasons.

ETA: I've always thought that boobs and alcohol are good.

All about big power politics. Trump appears to be trying to limit Chinese power by improving relations with Russia. It will be a balancing act because Russia is still a threat to eastern Europe while China is pushing against our allies in east Asia.

Not to dilute you subject but the current stand in our media to claim they are in some way "against the west" I find discomforting.

For the most part those are hard working people that have been oppressed by socialism. If they can overcome the oligarch that Putin has supported they would be in a great position to be a true 1st world country.
