Exactly - this is why if/when Trump ever apologizes for something he'll have the ultimate get out of jail free card.

His on the field performance has him jobless today, but all his other nonsense certainly didn't help his cause. Had he been an elite player, he'd be playing somewhere in the NFL no doubt.

He's a backup caliber QB who wants starting QB money and will attract a Tebow-esque media circus. He also only fits a certain style of offense and teams prefer to have a backup QB who can step in and run the exact same offense that's already in place.
ETA: The only time he's been a starting caliber QB is when Harbaugh was his coach. Harbaugh is not in the NFL anymore.

Correct, because NFL teams want backup QBs who can seamlessly transition into the offense they run. Kaepernick requires a special playbook to fit what he does well. You really think Kaepernick could step in and run the same playbook that Atlanta or New Orleans runs right now?
