Why the anxiety over 4,000 new troops to Afghanistan?

4,000 troops is nothing. Obama sent 30,000 in '09. This is not some giant expansion of the war effort.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing on the purpose but clearly it's what the brass is requesting to accomplish whatever the goal is. With foreign internal defense, FID, US troop number lead to exponential increases in the total fighting force. It's Americans training and supporting locals
16 SF guys can lead hundreds of local forces from the rear, providing recon and intel along with training

What strategy is it we are trying to follow sending 4K. It could be 5 troops or 1 million, but what is the goal of the mission.
Same rules of engagement? Are we going to hamstring our men and women? What will be accomplished that hasn't already been tried with minimal troop involvement?
Why do you think it is just about the number of troops being sent? Do you have a broader perspective than that, or are we wasting our time responding to you?

Maybe the troops aren't there to completely fix things but keep things stable while other options are being pursued

I love to MAGA, but, this means chances are higher that young American men and women will die and I'm not sure its for the right reasons. There are parts of this 4k that won't come home and those that do will be burdened with shitty VA care.
