Haven’t seen this posted. Worth a watch.

I’d like to hear those who disagree with the premise of taking away these tax breaks.

Take away Exxons tax breaks and see how fast that complex is sold to probably an Asian entity, with shitty pay structures and lax safety standards, and a new facility or smaller facilities are built around Pascagoula and Mobile. Only in LA could people be so fing stupid. The problem isn't the businesses in that zip it's the something for nothing bs attitude of the residents of that zip. And we all know who they are.

You really think they’d spend billions trying to build a new facility and recreating all the pipelines and existing infrastructure because you increased their property tax?

How much you think it would cost them to do that?

I feel like that’s the attitude of not knowing what cards you hold.

You can give those schools billions...if the student is raised in the never ending poverty cycle of single family households with parents that DGAF, money won't fix shite.

That video has some good points. I think Louisiana fails to get the full value from commerce relative to its strategic location and what little it can extract it manages poorly in allocating to better improve itself and its residents/workers.

I imagine if Texas ran Louisiana the quality of life and education system would be better, so I understand the gripe.

Baton Rouge schools spend $12,592 per student (The US average is $12,383). There are 15 pupils per teacher, 413 students per librarian, and 280 children per counselor.

FACTS ARE RACIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How stupid is someone who believes giving the government more money somehow translates to the wealth or financial capabilities of its populace?

Giving the government more money destroys wealth, it doesn't create it. Government confiscates and creates nothing.

Yeah

I couldn’t imagine how properly funded and properly run public education, healthcare and public services could make a populace better suited for success.

Let alone reinvestment in infrastructure that helps these industries succeed.

not only this but it’s a long road of relationships and deals that are hard to break. Dare stand up to it and get blackballed or humiliated. You can see from the responses that people don’t want to buck the system because it’s unpopular to challenge the untouchables that have the state by the balls.

Also, don’t mind the graph that shows how badly Louisiana manages this compared to all the other states. Wonder how those other states confiscate wealth yet still find a way not to be ranked 50th in everything.

Or a person who is successful because they were given an opportunity to go to good schools... whichever way you want to look at it.

properly funded

LA spends the same per student as the national average. So it already is properly funded.

Look, I’ve been inside inner city EBR schools. There’s no amount of school funding that can fix the cycle of dysfunction in the homes of some of those students. You compound that with an anti-business posture by your state government and you’ve got a serious problem on your hands.
