Why is there a watch on the table during Putin interview that disappears after 17 seconds?

most likely a gift from putin, he does that a lot to give gifts to impress people

whether thats what it was, or if tucker accepted it or not, i doubt tucker would have wanted to make a distraction of it

It might have to do with translation. If you watch the video you'll notice Tucker's facial expression reacting to Putin's answer as soon as Putin starts a first sentence. That's impossible because the translation has to be delayed a few seconds. That means editing of some sort and the watch may be a timing for that.

I didn't notice anything disappear. At the beginning you see Putin take off his watch and set it on the table. A few minutes later the watch is still there on the table.

Just taking a guess here, but maybe this is cultural. I know in Russia there is a cultural norm mandating that you don't buy someone a watch as a gift, because it implies they are to watch the time going by as their death approaches - or something like that. Maybe this is a way to say "I am not worried about time I am giving you my full attention"?

Guess you never heard about Kraft (owner of the pats), his superbowl ring, and Putin....

It looked kind of melted, maybe a reference to Salvador Dali?

He is former KGB, so any gift likely has spy stuff inside it.

If u look at 1min 45sec you can see Putin take off his watch and rub his arm. Guess his people took it away.

This. All of these long form interviews are edited and not just for content. They pause for bathroom breaks and maybe calls or a cup of coffee. They don't just sit there the entire time and go nonstop from start to finish

I didn't watch much of it as the translation was annoying but that's the way I saw it, too.
