Someone tell me what's so Damn wrong with nationalism Why does the left consider it to be evil?
From Merriam-Webster:
Simple Definition of nationalism:
: a feeling that people have of being loyal to and proud of their country often with the belief that it is better and more important than other countries
: a desire by a large group of people (such as people who share the same culture, history, language, etc.) to form a separate and independent nation of their own

It's not when it's checked with a healthy skepticism of all things Government.
It's when Socialism and Nationalism meet that's the problem.

ITS NOT!!!!
nationalism <> isolationism which is what all the liberal crybabies are trying to equate it to.

It's not a bad thing. The people in charge of how we think just want us to believe it is.

Because the left has successfully spun nationalism to equal racism. This is what happens when a political party takes over academia

Anti nationalism all started with a Coke commercial years ago when a bunch of young people got on a mountain top and started singing 'We are the World.'

Like many things in life there is nothing wrong with it unless you take it to the extreme.

Nothing wrong with it at all.
Unless you're a liberal who has wasted their lives promoting bullshite and no needs to justify their useless existence by dragging down everything and everyone around them so it is not so obvious that they are human failures.

I think it is the extreme nativism that many have an issue with. You can be nationalistic while not being nativist.

uh..zach. love you man, but the coke song was 'i'd like to teach the world to sing'.
'we are the world' was a bunch of faggy 80s rockstars raising money for people who live in african deserts.

It's not we have just allowed a bunch of progressive leftists dictate the narrative that it is bad to be a proud American.

Despite what the media claims, nationalism and isolationism are not related. We're the strongest country in the world, everyone wants something from us. It's just time we act like it and use it to our advantage.
The left-wing narrative wants to push guilt instead of pride. I think it's all engineered by Soros et al.

I was asking because these are just some of the reasons I served in the Corps.
I'm not ashamed of my love for this country!

Nothing.
But most times when people complain about nationalism, they really mean jingoism (or extreme nationalism or patriotism).

Because Hitler was into nationalism and tried to kill anyone who hurt his nation. Hitler was batshit crazy though... perhaps demonic.

It's not. One of the many thing I loathe about Obama is when he went on his apology tour, after first being elected, and spouted off that it was not healthy for the globe if America thought of itself as "Exceptional." His thinking being that America and Americans are no better than any other peoples of any other country on earth.
Part of what I think is lacking in this country is a sense of pride in being "Exceptional" because we come from the USA. That message comes from the Top (POTUS). The POTUS should ALWAYS be America's biggest cheerleader and he should walk around with a certain confidence that he represents the greatest and Most Exceptional Nation on Earth.
This aura trickles down to the folks and will cause everyone to dig a little deeper and love the country that they are from.
I welcome POTUS Trump's vision of America First and his talking up of American Exceptionalism.

It's not at all, but policies sometimes masked as nationalistic can be bad.
