It's been many years since I've had this discussion with someone or thought about it, so I had to look into it again. You are correct - while Jesus is viewed as a prophet by a few sects, generally speaking, he is not viewed as a prophet. I stand corrected - I'm getting old!

Why would Israel still be God's land and chosen people if they reject his son?

My probably imperfect understanding is that the Jewish people have an old testament with God, and Christians have of course the "new" testament.

Peter and James wanted only Jews admitted to their churches, it was Paul in Romans who said all can receive salvation.

Romans 1:16 (KJV)

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

My other understanding is that for rejecting the Messiah, the Jews lost their lands to the Romans and others, with the the destruction of the temple and great loss of life in 66-70 AD.

You have it 100% backwards. The Muslim/Arabs come for us because we support Israel. If we stopped artificially propping up Israel, we would have no trouble with ISIS or any of that.

Wrong

If we left Israel to completely fend for themselves the nukes we gave them would fly in the war that followed. The war in which they would be fighting to prevent their own genocide, not just defending the land the allies gave them after WWII.

What's left of Israel wouldn't like us, and what's left of the Middle East wouldn't appreciate our bombs exterminating chunks of their population either. Not that they have problem committing genocide among themselves anyway.

The better question is why is our government giving Israel $3.5 billion annually in taxpayer money that is shoestringed to U.S. defense contractors.

Or they could make peace. Israel has government subsidized health care -- subsidized by us.

As long as we give Israel a blank check, there will be no peace here or there. We'll still have Americans killed randomly by the dozen or several dozen every once in a while as long as we support Israel.

Right. That is too sweet a deal to ever allow peace to be made. Meanwhile, the USA infrastructure, education system, and healthcare systems fall apart.

I understand it's your opinion we should leave Israel alone. That is fine, your are entitled to it. There will be no peace however

Having spent a lot of time in Israel, and the Middle East in general, my personal opinion is to support Israel.
