Why does the left want socialism?

I just read the 8 rules by alinsky on how to create a social state in an article titled "beware of the useful idiots"
LINK /
I'm new to discussing and trying to understand politics in depth. I've always voted prolife and never really tried to dissect the agendas of career politicians. I knew about Saul alinsky and that the liberal Washington elites want to govern by his book. But I never questioned or discussed why. Im guessing the obvious: money and power. But it has to be more than that

Because responsibility is hard.

Its securing that money and power for years and years to come. It essentially ensures that the benefactors of socialism will vote in their favor. That's how I see it at least.

If you can convince people others have it better, and it's due to reasons out of their control, you have their support to "equalize" everything.
Rather than provide equal opportunity equal results sounds better once you are convinced of someone else's "privilege."

no - no it doesn't - that is the bedrock motivation for the DEM alinskyites. Anything else they say they 'want to achieve' is nothing more than a cover to mask their venality.

Because it is Marxist at heart.
Marxism is a method for a tiny minority to rule over the majority.
Marxists hate the West.

The irony is, that whole thing is fake.

Two reasons, I think.
The first is that I really do believe they mean well and want to cure society's ills. Socialism, on paper, does that. In an ideal world, socialism would be the best form of government. The problem is that the world is not ideal and socialism does not work, but you can't tell them that, because of...
...the second reason, which is that socialism is, and has been for more than a century, the intelligentsia's white whale. It doesn't work because it doesn't take into account human nature, but on paper it seems like it should. Every new generation of intellectuals takes a look at it and thinks, "Well, it didn't work before because the people in charge didn't make the right decisions. But I know that my generation is smart enough to make it work." So they try, and they fail, because the answer is simple and they don't like simple. People, in the mass, are inherently greedy and aren't motivated by altruism. Liberals think they can legislate altruism, but of course they can't.

Free stuff and/or amnesty = lifelong voters = stay in power. That is the formula.

Why do you want to impose a theocracy?
When did you stop beating your wife?
That's how you sound.

There is really good money in it if you're on the A-team. They take advantage of useful idiots (their term, not mine) selling them a dream that doesn't exist. Like the Dem party of today- when socialist policies fail you blame others and actually gain more support from the useful idiots. I've heard two college age girls complain about their birth control pills should Obamacare be repealed. It is unreal how cheap some (many) will sell their soul for. Birth control for goodness sake.

Remember, Socialism is for the people, NOT the Socialists. Take a look a Venezuela. I'll bet Maduro and his ilk are not waiting in line for the basic necessities.

"When did you stop beating your wife?" Is a common example of the "loaded question" fallacy where the questioner makes a false or questionable presupposition as you did in your OP.
