Blanco, Jindal, JBE etc. You coonarses could have voted for Abraham. Hasn't been a North La governor elected since Buddy Roemer.

Because there are more people in South Louisiana than North Louisiana. South Louisiana will pretty much always dominate statewide politics.

His campaign sucked. People in South LA either had no idea who he was, or were unimpressed with his ads.

This didn’t happen. LA folks got conned into voting for someone who “was like Trump.” It’ll happen again this year too when Louisiana votes for Jeff Landry for governor, because he’s like Trump.

Ralph should have been the LA GOP nominee for governor in 2019 though.

Our candidates routinely just suck.

Abraham had no decent ideas. Rispone certainly didn't either. Both would have been better than the guy we have now, but that isn't saying much.

Jindal was a good candidate, but became aimless in office.

I don't see anyone with good ideas on the horizon. The best anyone can do is just not vote for another Democrat. Having JBE as governor during covid was devastating to the state.

Oh he had aim, it was just pointed at DC and not in doing a good job as governor.

People like Piyush never seem to realize that if instead of spending their whole term trying to climb the ladder, they simply did a good job in their role, that higher office would fall into their laps. But instead he spent his whole term trying to become a POTUS candidate.

He should have just resigned as Governor in 2014 and ran for Landrieu's Senate seat that Cassidy currently occupies.

Maybe if you North La. people had opened their wallets and funded his campaign Abraham would have had a real shot, but ya’ll didn’t.

I just went and looked at the votes from Vernon, Rapides, and Avoyelles Parishes and North (29 parishes total). In the primary, all Republicans and Democrats receiving votes tallied 204,572 and 132,328, respectively (roughly a 72,000 vote difference). In the general, Rispone received 213,946 to JBE's 171,116 (roughly a 43,000 difference).

It's interesting that both Rispone and JBE received more votes in the general than were cast for any candidate of their respective parties in the primary. I guess more people vote in general elections rather than primaries. Obviously, JBE had a much bigger turnout in the North than Rispone did, though.

Republicans lack of ability to coalesce around one candidate allowed John Bel Edwards to become a two-term governor. Will history be repeated in 2023? If so, last one in LA, turn out the lights.

Well I’m not a leftist soooo. I voted and supported Rispone. Voted for Vitter in 2015 too. Have never voted for a Democrat. I’ll be voting for Richard Nelson more than likely.

I submit he was aimless in that regard. There's a way to get yourself "pointed at DC" as a governor. What Jindal did was not it.

Coonasses and black people share something: they believe that they would NOT be metaphorically raped, robbed, and generally fricked over by one of their own. Lundy running for governor is straight up race pandering as this man has not done ANYTHING worthwhile with the DOTD and seems to me to another Broome or Cantrell playing on the hearts of the D black electorate so he could get in and frick us all smiling all the while.

Even outsiders like Cassidy can fool with a smile and a quip and worm their way into the anuses of the electorate.

Louisiana does not have anyone ballsy enough to take on the massive corruption of law enforcement and the incompetent and corrupt municipal administrators and Louisiana will never rise out of the muck.
