Meh. We should just refer to them as IS. It's what they now call themselves. Although since we facilitated their formation and have indirectly funded and equipped them, maybe we should have some say in their name.

It goes by both names ISIS applies to the modern states of Iraq and Syria.
Isil applies to the ancient territorial goal and is pretty easy to discredit since they barely have footholds in Iraq and Syria now.
The real answer is Obama misses when Archer worked in ISIS.

Isis= Islamic state of Iraq and syria.
ISIL= Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant.
By saying ISIL it helps cover up the fact that it is his fault they are in syria. Also he is speaking towards thier endgame where they take our isreal.

Or inaccurate in this instance, since the terminology is used to refer to a definitive group of terrorists that is quite separate and apart from other groups.
