The problem is there are not enough to prop up the grievance industry.

When there is tons of money and power to be had for being offended, people will be perpetually offended.

I call those people "leftists," usually.

Although we have more than our share on the right, too

Precisely. When you can't find overt racism, invent "covert racism"

I think the first step should be defining racism bc it doesn't mean what it used to mean.

Especially true when you have people legitimately saying black people can't be racist.

Had a couple people tell me that irl the past few weeks. It's absurd. Language has been made an impediment to understanding thanks to leftist narratives.

Damn man, it's been talked about for nine years now without a trace of any actual action. Time for starting conversations is passe.
Fine. What sort of action do you suggest? Because it's the people being talked to that need to act, but they're not listening. How do you peacefully force someone else to act?

So, really, what is the next step? Because they've been told they can't talk about it anymore. They've been told they can't protest anymore (or they're doing it wrong). They can't control what other people do.

The black community has its own problems to solve, no doubt. And there are some in that community who blame all their problems on outside forces. But there are also legit concerns, and things we as a nation could be better at.

I do not think there is a more white privileged thing to say. And I'm white, and I hate the term white privilege.

quote:What I am really saying is that when you cry "racism" about everything, especially when racism was not a factor, then you end up generating blow-back and ill will. This makes the divide greater and instead of solving the issue it makes it worse. This is what is happening in America today.

I agree that this is a problem, and I can't stand it when people bring race into things where it's not a factor. But that's doesn't mean we should ignore the times where race (or any kind of discrimination) is a factor.

So you basically agree with my entire point, but want to say I can't possibly think in a more "white privileged" way? Believing in "white privilege" as a root cause for problems in this country is exactly what the problem is. People must take responsibility for their own problems and quit blaming others. Groups that do that, even those who experience(d) discrimination (see Irish, Jews, Chinese, Indians, Vietnamese, Catholics, etc.), succeed. But I guess that is just my white privilege speaking.

I've said for a long time just do away with labels that are race related. For example on some type of form...it should only ask if you are 1. Male/Female and American citizen/non citizen.
