Why can't the president end an investigation?

Nothing has came out on Flynn of any real signifance. Why does he have to let the FBI proceed without intervening if he thinks it's a waste of time?

What would you have said if Obama just shut down the email investigation? What did happen was troubling enough, but now you seem to think that can just outright control every aspect of criminal investigations?
