Why are St Tammany voters so dumb?

Probably the most conservative parish in the state, but
* highest property taxes in the state
* nearly highest sales taxes in the state
For conservatives, they sure do love that tax and spend.
They seem to have been completely brainwashed into thinking spending money on law enforcement and education is the reason crime is low and school achievement is high while it has NOTHING to do with the spending, but is due to the demographics.
Wake up people, vote no on the April tax vote (that was turned down 60-40 when they tried last year).

Louisiana average is .0479%
almost DOUBLE state average!!

Maybe because they have the best schools in the state and one of the lower crime rates? Due to higher property taxes and higher cost of living, people with higher income levels live there while not allowing as many project type developments.

I do think they are trying to push out lower class people. It might backfire as a lot of people are paying high flood insurance now too.

You think this is because of higher taxes?
Better schools and low crime are due to demographics. I assume you St Tammany sheriff dept does nothing to reduce crime. There just are as many criminals who live here. And every study has shown that increased spending on schools does not equate to higher performance. Schools aren't better here, students are better.

I don't disagree with that. I've hated them ever since they got rid of gaming. Had to pull out 3 machines in our restaurant both pulling one to two thousand a month.

Except I'm from tangipahoa parish. Were our school system is ranked in the bottom in the state. Which is also one of the least funded in the state. Our property taxes are also some of the lowest in the state which I do not complain about at all. However, if you want nice shite, you have to pay for it. The only real gem in Tangipahoa parish is Downtown Hammond.
I should also mention I despise taxing districts.

That statement alone is enough to make one disregard nearly every other post you have made.
Property taxes are 100% passed on to renters and homeowners exemptions are not unique to that area.

St Tammany 1st in avg income 29k
Tangi is 36th at 19k
Demographics is the primary factor by far in school 'quality' and low crime. You could drop spending by 50% and the students would still do fine and crime would not go up.

Whats dumb is the over building and now the endless apartment complexes that will all be ghetto in 10 yrs or so thus ruining the already declining Northshore.

And as bad as things are here, the voters last year added a new special 3/4 cent sales tax to the biggest retail areas calling them 'economic development districts'. How freakin' absurd is that? They're going to generate economic development by having a higher tax rate? great idea
