Why are some so desperate to believe Assad wasn't behind the gas attack?

We know he has used gas against civilians in the past. Why is it so hard to believe he did it again? By the way, the Russians gassed civilians in Afghanistan in the 80s. LINK
It doesn't mean we have to get involved in Syria if Assad was behind it, so why deny that he was?

because trust in the media and government is at an all time low.
i don't see why it matters. if i were president and they asked me about the gas attacks in Syria
"yeah that was terrible. how bout them knicks though?"

Ive been behind on the story, but I think facts are important here. You cant blame someone everytime something happens, just because one time they did it.
If he did it, he will pay. If he didnt, we need to find out who was behind it.

Fair enough. So if that is the case, then why the Hell would ISIS then commit the gas attack?

I don't have a problem with gassing people that deserve it but it's more fun to blame the democrats, globalists etc

Gassing civilians is absolutely abhorrent. Any civilized person should be outraged by it. *THIS DOES NOT MEAN I THINK WE SHOULD INVADE SYRIA*

Because a man like Assad, though a despicable human being, values power over everything else. And the quickest way to lose power is to chemically attack your own population and goad the U.S. into war.
The uniparty wants war. The corporate media wants war. They have been posturing for it in Syria since G.W. Bush's Axis of Evil speech. They understimated the country's opposition to war the first go round, so what better way to drum up emotional support for war than the gassing of children?
I'm not saying the CIA did it, but I am saying that our government has, in the past, used false flags as excuses to go to war or topple regimes. This is why I don't automatically assign blame to Assad based solely on our media propaganda.

We saw the Syrians drop the bombs.
Should be on the evening news tonight.
Not sure if that will convince anyone here though.

What about all the other times people were gassed in the ME and we did nothing? Saddam gassed the Iranians and the Kurds (who were Iraqi's) and nothing was done to him until he invaded Kuwait. And we did nothing when both north and south Iraq rebelled against Saddam in the aftermath of the Gulf War.

Assad doing it doesn't make sense, that's the only reason I doubt it. Could I be wrong? Yep! But this looks like a psych-ops maneuver on face value...just my observation.

Assad is not an idiot. He is a medical doctor and recieved his medical education in London. And to think he has no idea of the West's desire to topple his regime is to feign reality. Someone who has managed to hold on to power in that region of the world for as long as has is much more politically shrewd than you would give him credit for.

I know you intentionally made this statement facetiously, and yet the way most progressives are reacting to this matter makes me feel like they are indeed thinking this way.

This sounds about right, look at the destruction the "refugees" are causing in Europe

The gas isn't the reason we enter the war, it's the selling point for the war. The American public won't support a war over an oil pipeline, but they will support a war to save little kids, even if it's based upon a lie.
