Didn't leftists used to be nationalists in a lot of nations? I mean it's just beyond comprehension to see leftists aligned with the most backwards, religious, anti gay, misogynist, Neanderthal culture in world history.

You think Islam isn't compatible with nationalism? shite, most of the Muslim world was nationalist during the mid-20th century. Egypt, Yemen, and the Baath Brothers. Religious primacy came back in a big way thanks to a certain sugar daddy across the ocean.

You mean helping refugees? Dude, I hate the Muslim religion but nonetheless, these are human beings just trying to escape war. Many of our ancestors came here for the same reason. I'm not for an immigration free for all but I certainly don't have a problem w helping refugees.

They see it as a challenge to see if they get the radical Islamists to assimilate to Western society before the Prog is beheaded or the victim of an IED. Kinda like a new millennium version of chicken or Russian Roulette. Progs are very competitive minded people.

What kind of experience do you guys have with Islamic Americans? I taught scores of kids who were Islamic in a large, suburban high school and knew many of their parents very well. Three of the last few Islamic kids I taught went to West Point and Annapolis and are serving their country now as officers. Two others that email me frequently work in DC, one in the DOD as an analyst and one in Congress for a Conservative Republican US Rep. EVERY Islamic kid I taught, whether European or Asian or African, worked hard in my AP classes and acted just like the other kids I taught.
The bottom line for me is this: this country became strong (in part) because we took just about anyone who wanted to come for many generations. And people still want to come here.

We became strong because freedom loving people formed a country that they tried their best to set up to prevent all the shortfalls of the past governments. Individual freedoms were first and implemented by people that put people before the government.
If you are a worshipper of islam you do not agree with freedom. If you say you are a muslim and agree with freedom and equality then you are not a very good muslim. Yes there are plenty of muslims and are horrendous at following their faith just like occurs commonly with Christianity.
