Look Comey needed to go for multiple reasons
He didn't look further into the Lynch Clinton airpor rendezvous
He blew off Clinton's emails
He put his thumb on the scale with his press release right before the election. Whether or not you think this made a difference there is no reason he should have broken protocol to release this and even potentially skew the election especially when there was an investigation into the Trump admin at that time.
But all this being said, if this is what Trump is firing him for, why didn't he do it in Jan?
Why wait until now?
The optics of this are horrible. Anyone that Trump's admin appoints to direct the FBI, if they lead this election, there's no way people will believe the results. A special investigator needs to be called now to take over this investigation. If nothing is found by an independent investigator (most) people will finally let it go. But otherwise it looks lto the Dems like this is just another step into Trump trying to turn this country into an authoritarian government

As far as I'm concerned Comey sucked and Trump's well within his rights. People are melting because it's awfully suspicious and convenient to fire the man investigating you. Others are melting just because they have any excuse to.
