Who wanted Flynn out and why

Ask yourself
It's all about protecting the CIA, Clinton Foundation and Mossad. CIA will be dismantled if the truth ever gets out about the trio backing moderate rebels in Syria.
The CIA needs an ongoing war in Syria. If Assad is able to take control and end the war the truth will come out.
This is all the CIA and Deep State. Trying to purge the Trump loyalists one by one elimination style until Trump is the last one standing

The administration is hanging him out to dry in the hope that this forestalls press and legislative investigations, he wasn't set up, unless by "set up" you mean "likely asked to do what he did"
